KARIM RASLAN

Mr Karim Raslan is the CEO of KRA Group. He is a public affairs expert, with more than fifteen years experience in stakeholder management and socio-political risks analysis specializing in Southeast Asia. The Cambridge -trained lawyer, columnist and writer has developed a deep understanding of business and politics across Southeast Asia, especially of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore,

Thailand and the Philippines. His weekly syndicated column Ceritalah, which discusses socio-political and current issues developments in the region, is currently published in three languages: English, Mandarin and Malay in The Star, Sin Chew Daily and Sinar Harian respectively (all in Malaysia). His column is also published in the Jakarta Globe, Jawa Pos, Kontan (Indonesia) and Today (Singapore) newspapers. Karim regularly appears as a commentator on Southeast Asia issues on news stations like CNBC, Al Jazeera and Bloomberg. He is the author of four books, “Ceritalah: Malaysia in Transition,” “Heroes and Other Stories”, “Ceritalah 2: Journeys Through Southeast Asia and “Ceritalah 3: Malaysia the Dream Deferred.” He recently launched his first Bahasa Indonesia-language book, “Ceritalah Indonesia”. From 2010/2011 he served as the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council chairman for Southeast Asia, a council which aims to discuss and recommend solutions to the pressing issues affecting the region. Requirements
1. Candidate must have an LLB degree or higher from a reputable university.
2. 1-3 years of working experience.
3. At the minimum, working knowledge of Malaysian company, contract, taxation, investment and commercial law.
4. Knowledge of ASEAN company, contract, investment and commercial law is a considerable advantage.
5. Pleasant personality, attention to detail and willingness to travel.
6. Able to work independently as well in a team under intense conditions. Highly motivated, able to take responsibility.
7. Able to multi-task, prioritize information and understand issues that could affect the Group business.
8. Required language(s): A good command of both Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Indonesia and English. Knowledge of other relevant languages, including Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese, Tagalog and Burmese is a plus.
9. Applicants must be willing to work in Bangsar.
10. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities/Scope of Work
1. Advise the Management Committee on regulatory compliance issues across the Group.
2. Undertake research, as well as regularly brief the Management Committee of the Group on legal and regulatory issues in key Southeast Asian markets, including but not limited to: Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Myanmar.
3. Assisting, where and when appropriate, in the consulting work of the firm, including research, business development, client servicing and profile-building.

10 week internship

The KRA Group is one of the most dynamic public affairs consulting firms in Southeast Asia today. The firm currently has offices in Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, as well as resources on the ground in Manila, Singapore, Hanoi and Yangon.

KRA is also increasingly branching out into factual media production, including for social media, television and online platforms. The firm has embarked on Ceritalah, a revolutionary, ground-up, story-telling method which explores the lives, the hopes and aspirations of ordinary Southeast Asians.
The firm is hence seeking university students interested in working in Southeast Asia to serve as interns in our firm for the Nusantara (i.e. July-September 2018) period in our Kuala Lumpur office.

Requirements
Applicants should be an undergraduate or postgraduate high-achiever from a reputable college or university.
Other criteria include:

HR and Admin Manager

Responsibilities
1. In charge of the firm’s full spectrum of Human Resource & Administrative functions including to develop and implements HR policies and procedures, manpower planning, recruitment & selection, compensation & benefits, performance management, training & development, employee welfare administration, payroll administration, reporting & administrative functions for contract or permanent employees.
2. To handle & advise Management on disciplinary issues, staff counselling and grievances, terminations and other employee relations matters in compliance and local labour laws/Industrial Relations Act.
3. Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labour reporting requirements.
4. To revise employee handbook from time to time if required
5. Constantly promoting a healthy company culture and inspiring the team’s performance.
6. Any other duties and assignments as and when required by CEO from time to time.

Requirements
1. Possess a minimum Degree in Human Resource Management / Administration
2. Good knowledge in Labour Laws, the Industrial Relations Act & Immigration matters

5. Able to work independently with minimum supervision. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

RESEARCH EXECUTIVE

Responsibilities
1. To understand the goals, audience and message of the firm, its clients and projects.
2. To conduct continuous online and print media monitoring of selected Southeast Asian markets and sectors.
3. To develop a knowledge of selected economic sectors as well as the political and regulatory environments of relevant Southeast Asian markets.
4. To draft monthly or ad-hoc reports on various topics as well as client and media alerts in a timely and accurate fashion.
5. Regularly report insights gained from research to clients and company stakeholders.
6. Assist in organizing and executing public affairs work on behalf of company clients.

Requirements
1. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
2. Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business, Economic History, Southeast Asian Studies, Politics or International Relations. Other qualifications can be considered.
3. Candidates must be able to communicate ideas and findings through written, graphical and oral presentations with the ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects;
