Mr Karim Raslan is the CEO of KRA Group. He is a public affairs expert, with more than fifteen years experience in stakeholder management and socio-political risks analysis specializing in Southeast Asia. The Cambridge -trained lawyer, columnist and writer has developed a deep understanding of business and politics across Southeast Asia, especially of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore,
Thailand and the Philippines. His weekly syndicated column Ceritalah, which discusses socio-political and current issues developments in the region, is currently published in three languages: English, Mandarin and Malay in The Star, Sin Chew Daily and Sinar Harian respectively (all in Malaysia). His column is also published in the Jakarta Globe, Jawa Pos, Kontan (Indonesia) and Today (Singapore) newspapers. Karim regularly appears as a commentator on Southeast Asia issues on news stations like CNBC, Al Jazeera and Bloomberg. He is the author of four books, “Ceritalah: Malaysia in Transition,” “Heroes and Other Stories”, “Ceritalah 2: Journeys Through Southeast Asia and “Ceritalah 3: Malaysia the Dream Deferred.” He recently launched his first Bahasa Indonesia-language book, “Ceritalah Indonesia”. From 2010/2011 he served as the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council chairman for Southeast Asia, a council which aims to discuss and recommend solutions to the pressing issues affecting the region.
