This Hari Raya, we’ll do some things as normal … but do some things a little differently!

We can have a happy and healthy Hari Raya by maintaining social distancing and avoiding large gatherings.

We know it’s tough when we are not together. But our health and safety of ourselves and our loved ones must come first.

We may be apart. But we are not alone.

We may be far. But we are still family.

For a fresh start, let’s all do our part.

For our family. For our neighbours. For our nation.

Here’s a healthy recipe to try this week! Tom Yam soup is packed with delicious vegetables and full of vitamins, nutrients and minerals, anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories! Our Copywriter Jacob has been busy in the kitchen during this MCO period ;)

This is a freeform recipe so add or subtract to your heart’s content. There are no rules, only nutritional benefits!

The overall taste should be a combination of spicy, salty, sour and sometimes a touch of sweetness.

Make sure everything is clean. In a large stainless-steel pot of filtered water, simmer the following:

- Tom yum stock
- Fish sauce
- Lemongrass stalks – finely sliced
- Kaffir lime leaves (crunch up well in your hand to release the aroma and essential oils)
- Carrots - chopped
- Tomatoes - chopped
- Small green chilis (lots!) – chopped and smashed in a pestle & mortar
- Sliced large red chilis
- Onions (red, or shallots - sliced )
- Ginger - grated
- Bean sprouts (add at the end)
- Garlic cloves - whole
- Baby corn - chopped
- Spring onions – sliced
- Green beans - sliced
- Coriander
Limes (loads! Squeeze the juice in at the end)

You can also add:

- Mushrooms
- Noodles
- Coconut milk - add towards the end
- Fish or prawns – add at the end so they don’t overcook
- Any vegetables or meat that you like!

We know it’s tempting to buy new baju, toys and treats at this time of year - but in times like these, it is especially important to be mindful of those who are less fortunate. Remember the gift of giving is the greatest gift of all - perhaps consider a charitable donation instead of a new outfit?

Tip #2 for Ramadhan - patience, patience, patience! It’s tough to resist the temptation of all the lovely food on the table at iftar, but take it slowly when you break your fast, to ensure you avoid indigestion and consume too many calories. Sip warm water slowly and break your fast with some soup, before piling the rice onto your place! Happy Ramadhan from all of us at K&L-ISC.

Did you know that you can simply Google "tiger" (and a lot of other animals!) on your mobile phone and the results will give you an option to "view in 3D" - and you'll get this result! A great way to keep the kids entertained at home ;) 🐯

The Movement Control Order has been extended in Malaysia until 12 May - which means more quality time at home with the kids! Sam (Art Director) has been busy stacking cups and juggling diabolo with his talented young son - we wonder who's teaching who here?! ;)

Some serious Sunday soul food! Jacob (Copywriter) has a great recipe (in his humble opinion) for a vegetarian chilli;
👨🏽‍🍳
Chop sweet potatoes into chunks, slice 2 bell peppers, coat in cajun/paprika spices and roast for 20 mins at 180C
🧅
Meanwhile, chop onion, garlic, chilli, and fry in a large pot until golden brown
🌶
Add drained beans (pinto, kidney, black), chopped tomatoes (with juice), and sweetcorn
🌽
Simmer for around 10 mins, until the sweet potatoes and peppers are ready
🍠
Add the roasted vegetables to the pot (add a little water if you need)
🍅
Cover and simmer for an additional 15-20 mins
🍴
Serve!😋

Batrisyia (Digital Executive): I bought a 360 skincare/makeup organizer and a jewelry hanger organizer (both online and during MCO) to keep my things in the right place! Before, my stuff was either in open boxes or scattered on my dressing table. I also threw away a load of old things that no longer 'sparked joy' - Marie Kondo would be proud ;)
