1. Do Be Precise...Never overlook any small details
Make sure your SMART goals are SPECIFIC. You and your team may prevent ambiguity about what needs to be done and who has to do it.
2. Provide KPIs...Don’t Provide KPIs Unrelated to Your Intention
It is critical to establish pertinent and practical data sources and outcomes. Include KPIs to track the number of qualified leads for sales generates.
3. Do Make Your KPIs Reasonable...Don’t Aim Too Low or Too High
Have reasonable expectations given your resources and time. Analyze your data, consider the time restrictions associated with other goals and duties, etc. to fully develop your SMART goals.
4. Do Make Your Goals Matter to Everyone...Don’t Set Yourself Up for A “Who Cares?” Or “No Way”
Overarching organizational goals should be aligned with and supported by SMART goals. Ask where you can locate your company's annual goals; these are often created by the founders, CEOs, and other C-Suite executives.
5. Do Set Deadlines… Don’t Be Vague or Unrealistic
Set milestone dates, and create the action steps you need to take to reach your objective. Setting deadlines helps you stay motivated, engaged, and appreciate the work you've done while working toward a long-term goal.
