Are you stuck in the rabbit hole of sorting out the weaknesses of yourself as a manager/ leader , your team members or your team at large ?

There is another way.

Take the time to prioritise exploring and unlocking the limitless talents of yourself, your team members and your team at large.

It provides clarity, focus, better engagement and effectiveness that is missing in many environments in the knowledge economy.

I deep dived into my talents back in 2019 through Gallup Accelerated Strengths Coaching’s week long training.

Since then, I have not only utilised what I gained to reshape my career but to enable individuals and teams to name - claim - aim their talents to strengths. The benefits are 5 fold at least !

Reach out if you need support on this journey of talents to strengths investment.

✨IWD 2026 Women Leaders Spotlight series : 3 of 6

Senator Lidia Thorpe, Gunai. Gunditjmara. Djab Wurrung women ✊🏽

The first time I heard and saw her in person was when I was living in Naarm (Melbourne) in so called Australia in October 2018 at a panel discussion on opportunities for women in leadership. She was the standout speaker in the panel. At that stage she was a Victorian Legislative Assembly member and part of the Australian Greens Victoria.

I was hooked. I started following her journey and actions since then.

I watched attentively on my screen whilst she was sworn in as the first Aboriginal woman to represent Victoria in the Australian Senate and the first Aboriginal Australian federal parliamentarian from the Greens in October 2020.

She inspired me to take action in May 2022 to be a volunteer for the Australian Greens Victoria (even though I only hold a PR and can’t vote) over the polling period just so she could be re-elected. And she was.

In January 2023, at the Invasion Day rally in Naarm I saw her up close giving a powerful speech and marched along with the rest of us. (continued in comments)

✊🏽 IWD 2026 women leaders spotlight series : 2 of 6

Have you heard Tijah Yok Chopil speak ? I was inspired both times.

So who is Tijah ? Tijah is of Semai descent and a distinguished leader of the Orang Asli (First People) community in Peninsular Malaysia.

She is a women who speaks truth to power with passion. She invented the phrase Sinui Pal Nanuk Sngik (SPNS)‘’New Life One Heart’, it signifies that solidarity among Orang Asli will ensure a future for them. She launched SPNS as an organisation when she was 17 years old back in 1995 to improve the lives of the Orang Asli community.

I had the pleasure of hearing Tijah speak in person twice on the 30th November 2024 and 17th October 2025 in KLSCAH at grassroots activism events on the intersection of Orange Asli & poverty. There was something about the honesty, clarity, care in the way she spoke about her community that made me listen up and be like she is not just chasing titles like many do. She cares ! She spoke about their rights, justice and clear action needed and not just a pity party. Please go support her and the Orang Asli community through co-creation.

I have 4 more spotlights to go till we mark International Women’s Day. Do pop back in tomorrow to see who I am featuring next.

Is there any women community leaders who has inspired you recently ? Do share in the comments below. We so need to hear about them in these wild times.

📸 Image taken by me of Tijah in Oct ‘25 and Nov ‘24 respectively when she was a speaker in panel discussions.

As a manager and leader in the knowledge economy being able to provide effective feedback . mentoring . coaching to your team members is critical !

Especially if you are a leader who believes it’s important to unlock the unlimited potential of your team members and by default your team.

There are many managers and leaders who often get confused between these 3 specific areas.

And yes you can definitely do a combination however there needs to be clarity, transparency and agreement.

Some people prefer following the book so having a clear conversation on expectations especially when starting a mentoring or coaching relationship is important.

In this short video ☝🏾 I share some clear differences between the 3.

When was the last time you provided feedback, mentoring or coaching ? Do share in the comments on how that’s going for your team member.

As a conscious leader in the 21st century, I cannot remain silent when I see systemic corruption or unethical behaviour at this scale.

As someone who worked in the investment banking sector in London during the Global Financial Crisis 2008 I have seen the widespread global repercussions on everyday people from the lack of integrity - ethics - accountability of the powerful few !

As leaders, continuously saying I will lose my role or opportunities so it’s best to remain silent and continue with the status quo might seem to be the favourable choice in the short term but in the long term it will bring you reputational damage, trust is lost and a lot more.

Isn’t this the time to speak up and out about a system upholding harm if you are truly a leader ?

The people today especially the youth are no longer staying silent as they are frustrated with the gaslighting, hypocrisy and the two tier system between the ‘elite’ and the rest.

They are pushing back, they are asking questions all over the world.

They are no longer afraid to head to the streets to protest and demand change in the system.

⏰ End your silence and take action.Be the conscious leader and meet the moment we are facing. Use the momentum of the fire horse to bring ripples of courage, clarity and conviction .. 🔥 🐎

Small training groups for leaders are impactful if leaders in the room are willing to be present - open up, share, question and learn from each other not just from the trainer.

I am so glad I was able to design and create an environment for that from the 9th to 12th February 2026 (9am to 1pm) in the Advanced Leadership training program for public sector leaders from Kenya in Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, KL.

May all four leaders ignite. transform . sustain conscious culture and leadership in their work and life based on their experience in the sessions and in their time in Kuala Lumpur.

I look forward to seeing further impact I can co-create as a trainer - facilitator - consultant during the upcoming year of the Fire Horse. 🔥 🐎

I see a shift happening where conscious leaders emerge as the old world of leaders who have caused so much pain and harm all across the world are shunned.

It is the time of reckoning.
Don’t look away - hold them accountable.Ensure justice prevails.

The top 3 things that came out of me living & working in 4 cities, 3 countries in the West and East and connecting with people from 6 continents as a leader is this :
🔦 shifted from being compliant to people with authority to a ‘trouble maker’ who questions the status quo and ignites change
🔦 embraced aging like fine cheese, wine and wisdom
🔦aligned to my genius eventhough society expects otherwise

As we end the first month of 2026, a little reflection post.

How have you transformed as a leader ? What words come to mind ? What support do you need to maintain the momentum ?

🔦 What is stopping you from doing the best work of your life ?

That’s the question Aaron Dignan poses in his book Brave New Work, published in 2019 !

As someone who focuses on conscious 21st century organisational culture and leadership, I’d say this is one of those books to read and apply this year.

It puts a spotlight on areas we need to address in the workplace as the current one is not serving most of us from employees, suppliers, community at large, environment.

He introduces the Operating System (OS) canvas and dives into twelve important areas to evaluate and address.

This is not all theory, it’s based on the work he and his team in The Ready have done in organisations, what they have noticed in these institutions and how shifts can happen !

Leaders, are you ready to start making shifts to create a Brave New Work in your organisations in 2026 ?

Always Was Always Will Be ✊🏽

I spent 13 years of my life in those lands now called Australia.

Today I stand in solidarity with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community on Invasion Day - Survival Day - Day of Mourning.

Some key information which I only found out after 5 years of living there :
- Frontier Wars (and the gcide that happened in those lands)
- that it is the only country that celebrates the day it was colonised 🫣
- there are >600 deaths in custody of Aboriginal & Torres Straits Islander people since 1992 and no officer has been charged
- the incarceration rate of Aboriginal & Torres Straits Islander men is at a rate of 1 in 22 😓
- ✊🏽the Aboriginal & Torres Straits Islander people continued resisting, kept their culture - stories alive against all odds and kept rising through it all.

So many settlers - migrants to those lands only hear the one sided history. It’s never too late to unlearn and relearn and stand in solidarity and demand justice for the very communities land you now live, feel safe and thrive on.

Be the CONSCIOUS LEADER. It’s not too late.

Have you met leaders who reject innovative approaches to improve the organisational culture and leadership of a particular department or
organisation ?

I have unfortunately met them across industries and countries.

They would say :

1. That would work for department X in company Y, but it will never work for us.

2. I don’t know how company X does it. We won’t get away with doing something like that due to .....

These leaders tend to like things to stay the way they are. They believe the way things are is the only way or they are ok with small minimal change but not an entirely different way eventhough it is a better one in the medium to long term.

In this uncertain and complex knowledge world which is so different from the industrial era, it is time to be curious and willing to experiment on new and better ways for culture and leadership.

If you are stuck with the status quo, your best talent will be leaving or be disengaged. You would also not be the employer of choice.

It’s time to think beyond the short term !

What has your experience been like with leaders like this ? And even more important, what shifted their perspective if ever ?
