Rompin Plantation Fire Nearly Contained

KUANTAN, 7 April — The oil palm plantation fire in Rompin is now almost fully under control, with 299 out of 300 hectares extinguished. Only a small area of 0.2 hectares remains under active firefighting.

The operation, which began on 23 March, is in its final stage. Firefighters are focusing on preventing re-ignition and securing the surrounding areas, especially with the ongoing hot weather.

Tragic House Fire at PPR Dato Senu, Sentul

A fatal house fire occurred at a Project Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) residence in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, claiming the lives of an elderly mother and her son.

The victims, an 82-year-old woman and her 58-year-old son, were found in the bathroom by the Fire and Rescue Department after the fire was brought under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

🔥 Mont Kiara Condo Fire: A Tragic Reminder

On 10 December 2025, a fire broke out at Mont Kiara, a high-rise condominium in Mont Kiara. Emergency services responded quickly, but sadly, a 38-year-old man lost his life. The fire was worsened by a malfunctioning fire prevention system, which hampered firefighting efforts.

What To Do During a Fire:

• Stay low and move away from smoke. Clean air hides close to the floor.
• Use the stairs to go down — never the lift, as lifts can trap you. Avoid going upstairs unless directed by firefighters.
• Close the door behind you when escaping to slow the fire’s spread.
• If trapped, seal gaps with a wet cloth, stay near a window, and signal for help.
• Use a fire extinguisher only if safe — if the fire is too large, evacuate immediately.
• Call emergency services (999) as soon as you are in a safe location.
