Change Management refers broadly to the actions an organization takes to change. It will involve company culture, internal processes, underlying technology or infrastructure, corporate hierarchy, or another critical aspect.
Based on my many years of experience working as a change management consultant and implementer, here are 5 simple steps for how best for an organization can successfully implement change management:-
1) Prepare for Change - recognize and understand the need for change- why change must happen now
2) Craft a Vision and Plan for Change - develop a thorough and realistic plan for the desired change while also including what will success look like.
3) Implement the Changes - empowering the change agents and targets to take the necessary steps to achieve the goals of the initiative. Continuously communicating the vision is key throughout the implementation process to remind members why change is being pursued and what success looks like.
4) Embed Changes within the DNA of the organization's culture -structures, controls, and reward systems should all be considered as tools to help change stick.
5) Review Progress and Analyze Results - perform timely and meaningful reviews by asking what went well, what didn't go so well and what can be done differently.
