Many see their employer as the source of their salary. Few see beyond to notice that to influence their salary, efforts should be placed at making customers willing to pay more, regardless of the employer. If you are a customer, what would make you pay more? How would a product or service get more buyers/payers so the business can afford to pay its employees for their efforts to increase revenue, which not only translates to company profits, but with increased consistency, can fund increased salaries to reward the effective efforts? The effort to increase revenue lies in every part of the chain. Many could be in a position to break out of their "what I do won't make a difference" mindset, and offer to take that step, but may just not realise it yet.
