TB News : Where 5S is Applied
In line with the aim to be QE/5S compliance organisation, Universiti Kuala Lumpur held a pre launched of its 5S awareness campaign for City Campus on December 30, 2013. Carrying the theme of "Where 5S is Applied", UniKL President / CEO, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud graced the event attended by staff representing Chancellery, UniKL MIIT, UniKL Business School, IRPS and ICole.

In his speech, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud said," No doubt, there are challenges as we strive to implement and fully achieve 5S certification with time being the biggest challenge. We had experienced facing some tough challenges before but we made it through. Similarly, I am confident that we will be able to achieve 5S accreditation in due course". He also thanked the former General Manager, Administration and Asset Management Division, Tuan Haji Sukor A'ain for his effort to initiate the 5S initiative during his service with UniKL. We believe that on our QE/5S Professional Consultant from AHA Dynamic Resources to realisation of our dream to become the best university on QE/5S practise.

UniKL Deputy President (Student Development and Campus Lifestyle), Prof. Dr. Khairanum Subari who is also the Chairman of 5S Central Committee earlier informed that an internal 5S audit exercise was carried out for 5S Readiness Evaluation from November 12 – 15, 2013. "The exercise helped to identify the areas that require more improvements with some Divisions / Departments scoring 3S points".

To kick-start the programme, staffs were drilled with some aerobics steps led by En. Shahabudin Jurimi from Corporate Communication Department, assisted by En. Husin Ali from Student Development Department. During the ceremony, 8 champions and 11 team leaders of the 5S central committee received their certificate of participations. Prizes were also given to Level 27 that emerged champions of the 3S competition, Level 16 for the second place while Level 3 became the third place winner. All staff present also pledged the 5S oath led by General Manager, Human Capital Division, En. Shamsul Kamal Ab. Samad.
