Good news! Our team has successfully completed the repair works on the burst main pipeline in Sibu.

The water supply system is now undergoing a recovery process in stages as we gradually restore water supply and pressure throughout the affected areas. Consumers, particularly those located further along the distribution system, may experience a longer recovery period.

Our teams are also on standby to carry out flushing works at strategic locations to help clear any discoloured water that may occur as water pressure builds up during the recovery process.

We understand the inconvenience caused by this disruption and sincerely thank all affected consumers for your patience and understanding.

A big thank you as well to our dedicated team who worked through the night to complete the repair works and get the system back on track. πŸ’™

We will continue to monitor the situation closely until the water supply fully stabilises.

Water Main Repair at Jalan Tun Jugah Completed Ahead of Full System Recovery

Emergency repair works on a burst 840mm main water pipeline along Jalan Tun Jugah were completed at 10:00 PM today following a major disruption earlier in the afternoon.

The pipeline burst at 3:00 PM after sustaining third-party damage linked to ongoing construction for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project which affected approximately 100,000 households.

The contractor and Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd mobilized repair crews to seal the breach and restore the supply line.

With repairs concluded, water supply is being restored to affected areas in stages.

Consumers should prepare for the following conditions over the next few days:

β€’ Gradual Pressure Stabilization: Water pressure will return incrementally across affected distribution networks. Full, normal water pressure is expected to take between two to three days as the pipeline network fully re-pressurizes.

β€’ Temporary Water Discoloration: Residual sediment in the pipes may cause water to appear slightly cloudy or discolored initially. Residents are advised to run their taps for a few minutes until the water flows clear before using it for cooking or drinking.

β€’ Trapped Air in Pipes: Sputtering or "coughing" taps may occur as air escapes the lines during the initial refill phase. This will resolve naturally as water flow normalizes.

Sarawak Water thanks affected residents for their patience and understanding throughout the repair process.
