You gave your best advice. You did everything right. But your client still blames you for their loss.

What happens next?

This is exactly the situation Professional Indemnity insurance is designed for.

PI insurance protects professionals and businesses when a client claims that your advice, service or work caused them financial loss. It does not matter whether the mistake was intentional or not. In the eyes of a client who has lost money, someone has to be responsible. And without protection in place, that someone is you.

It covers legal defence costs, settlements and any damages awarded against you. Because even if you are not at fault, defending yourself in court is expensive and time consuming.

If you are a consultant, an accountant, a lawyer, an architect, an IT service provider or anyone who provides professional advice or services for a fee, this is worth paying attention to. One unhappy client and one claim is all it takes.

One important thing to know. PI is a claims-made policy. This means the policy that responds is the one that is active when the claim is made, not when the work was done. So maintaining continuous coverage without gaps matters more than most people realise.

If you are not sure whether your business needs Professional Indemnity coverage, that is a conversation worth having before you need it.

Had lunch with the Allianz General Insurance team yesterday. 😊

Once in a while, we make it a point to sit down with the person in charge from our insurer partners. Not for a meeting. Not to talk numbers. Just lunch. Good food, good conversation, getting to know each other as people.

It might sound like a small thing. But to me, it matters a lot.

Because when something comes up for a client, whether it is a new business enquiry, preparing a quotation, a servicing issue or something that needs to be resolved quickly, having a familiar face to reach out to makes a real difference. A quick message or a direct call to a person who already knows how I work moves things along so much faster.

Of course there are times when I still reach out through other channels too. But having that personal connection means there is always a good starting point when things need to move quickly.

That relationship makes everything smoother. And ultimately, that is what good service looks like from where I stand. Not just knowing the policy. Knowing the people behind it.

This is one of those behind the scenes parts of this work that does not always get talked about. But it is very much part of how I show up for the people I work with. 😊

Nobody prepares for the phone call that says one of your staff is in the hospital.

But when it comes, and you find out they have no insurance coverage at all, a very uncomfortable question lands on your desk.

What do you do now?

Do you pay from your own pocket? It feels like the right thing to do. But is it fair to you? Medical bills are not small. And this may not be the last time.

Do you offer a loan from the company account? Suddenly your cashflow is affected by something completely outside your business plan. And collecting that money back from an employee is an awkward conversation nobody wants to have.

Do you say no? You can. But then you have to look that person in the eye every single day after that. That is not easy for anyone with a good heart.

There is no comfortable answer when you are caught in the middle like this.

The good news is, this situation is entirely preventable.

A Group Hospitalisation & Surgical (GHS) plan means that when the unexpected happens, your employee is covered & you are not the one scrambling for a solution. No difficult decisions. No awkward conversations. No out of pocket surprises.

And here is something many employers do not realise. The premium paid for your employees' group insurance is claimable as a company expense, which helps reduce your tax. It is genuinely one of the most practical & people-centred investments a business can make.

Your team gives you their time & their effort every day. A GHS plan is one of the most meaningful ways to give something real back. 🤝🏻

A treadmill appeared in my living room out of nowhere Just like that. 🏃‍♀️

I stared at it for a good few minutes. Because honestly, I had not asked for it. But there it was, sitting right in the middle of my apartment, basically telling me it was time to stop making excuses. 😂

To be fair, I had been neglecting my workouts for quite a while. Good food, good company, good trips. All wonderful things, but the waistline tells its own story. You know how it is.

Then everything started falling into place at once. The treadmill right in my living room. A brand new ZUS café that just opened downstairs at my office. And my AIA Vitality membership that I had quietly left on the shelf for far too long.

For those who don't know, AIA Vitality is a wellness programme that rewards you for staying active. Walk your steps, track your workouts, hit your weekly challenge target & you get to redeem vouchers from the AIA+ app. ZUS, Touch 'n Go, Jaya Grocer, Grab Gifts & more. All for just RM10 a month if you have an AIA life policy.

My goal this week? Hit my personalised weekly target & earn that ZUS voucher. 😋☕

Because if good coffee is waiting at the finish line, I will absolutely find a way to run.

Sometimes the universe just knows when it is time to give you a little push. And this week, it pushed quite literally. 🤭

There is someone who comes to mind every now and then when I think about my own journey.

We have known each other for many years. We do not meet often. Sometimes an entire year passes without seeing each other. But she has a way of showing up exactly when it matters. During some of my lowest moments, when life felt heavy & the path ahead felt unclear, she appeared. She listened. She encouraged. She quietly helped me find my footing again & move forward.

She is someone who believes in magic. Someone who lives in abundance, fully & unapologetically. There is a freedom & creativity in the way she moves through life that I deeply admire.

And from a distance, I have watched her grow. Wiser. Bolder. Playing a bigger game. Inspiring & successful in the most soulful sense of the word.

She inspires me to work on my own journey. To be creative in the way I do my work. To enjoy every moment & every person I encounter. To live more freely, aligned with what my soul is telling me.

There is still shadow work to do. I know that. The challenges are real & they do not disappear overnight. But I will not give up just because the path is not always smooth. Seeing her out there, living & growing & thriving, reminds me that it is possible.

This is how a woman inspires without even trying. Not through grand gestures. But through the quiet, beautiful way she chooses to live her life.

To every woman who is doing that for someone without knowing it, thank you. You matter more than you realise. 😊❤️

A client came to me recently, not for themselves, but for their parents.

The family had been paying for both parents' standalone medical insurance for many years. Good plans, bought a long time ago, running smoothly. No complaints.

Then the renewal came in.

The premium had gone up significantly. Between both parents, the siblings were now looking at an additional RM600 every month. Just like that.

They were not angry. They were worried. Because they love their parents & they want to do right by them. But RM600 extra every month is not a small thing for any family to absorb quietly.

And that is just today.

With standalone medical plans, premiums are tied to age bands. As the parents get older, the premium keeps climbing. What is RM600 extra today could be significantly more in the next few years. The family was not just managing a current problem. They were looking at a burden that would only grow heavier with time.

Their parents' original agent was no longer around to help. So they came to me.

The first thing I told them was this. Let us not make any hasty decisions. Let us look at everything properly first.

For one of the parents who already has a pre-existing condition, switching plans is not straightforward. The existing plan needs to be maintained. But there are still options. Downgrading the plan or adding a deductible can help bring the premium down without losing coverage entirely.

For the other parent who is still in good health, there is more flexibility. Converting from a standalone medical plan to an investment linked plan with a medical rider could be a meaningful alternative worth exploring. Having someone who can source from multiple insurers & give you proper advice makes a real difference.

This is what reviewing a policy actually looks like. It is not just about selling something new. Sometimes it is about sitting with a family, understanding their situation fully, and finding the most affordable way to make sure their parents are still protected.

Medical insurance is not a set & forget decision. As we age, the premiums change. The needs change. And having someone in your corner who checks in, reviews & advises makes all the difference.

If your parents have medical coverage that has not been reviewed in years, now is a good time to have that conversation. 💬

Thursdays have their own personality in my life.

Up early before the sun fully rises, out the door before the traffic builds. I always stop somewhere near the office for breakfast before the day swallows me whole. That quiet moment with a warm drink & a simple meal is mine. Just mine, before the meetings begin.

And then it starts. Back to back, morning through evening. Different rooms, different conversations, different decisions. By the time the last meeting wraps, I am already calculating whether I can beat the traffic home.

This is the reality of working life in KL. The city does not slow down for anyone.

By the time I reach home, my mind has quietly shut the door. I need that stillness. That private space to just breathe & be nobody's anything for a while.

If something comes in after that, unless it is truly urgent, it waits till tomorrow. Not because I do not care. But because I have learned that a depleted version of me serves nobody well.

Work life balance is not a luxury. It is how I show up at my best for the people who count on me.

To everyone living this same Thursday life, you are doing enough. Rest is part of the work. 😊

Running a business is not just about profit & loss. It is also about the people who show up for you every single day.

That is why many employers provide Group Hospitalisation & Surgical cover for their team. It is one of those benefits that employees truly appreciate & remember. It builds loyalty. It builds trust. It tells your people, I care about you beyond your salary.

But here is a dilemma many employers quietly face.

When claims are high in a policy year, the renewal premium goes up. Sometimes significantly. And the employer has to absorb that cost.

Do they remove the benefit to save money? Most would not even consider it. Because they know what it means to their team. So they continue. They pay more. And they carry that cost quietly, because it is the right thing to do.

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.

What many employers do not realise is that there is a smarter way to manage this. Engaging a Financial Adviser Representative means you get access to quotations from multiple insurers, a proper comparison, and genuine advice on how to reduce your premium or make better use of what you are already paying.

The key is to start early. Ideally 3 months before your policy renewal date. That window gives you enough time to explore options, make informed decisions, and avoid last minute pressure.

Because protecting your people should never come at the cost of your business. With the right guidance, you can do both. 💛

Most people assume making an insurance claim is a long, painful process. With cyber insurance, by the time you hang up the phone, things are already moving.

Let me walk you through exactly what happens after a cyber insurance claim is made. Step by step. 🔐

☎️ 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭 — 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹
The moment you discover a cyber incident, you call the 24/7 emergency hotline provided by your insurer. That is it. One call starts everything.

You do not have to figure out who to contact or what to do next. The system kicks in immediately.

🔍 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮 — 𝗔𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂
A specialist legal team takes over. They assess what happened, how serious it is, and put together a full incident response plan tailored to your situation.

You are not alone in this anymore.

🛡️ 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯 — 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱
Depending on what your business needs, the insurer appoints the right people. IT forensic investigators to find out exactly what was breached, legal counsel to protect your liability, and PR specialists to manage your reputation if news gets out.

All coordinated. All covered under your policy.

⚙️ 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰 — 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀
The response team works to restore your business operations as quickly as possible, minimising your downtime & financial loss every step of the way.

✅ 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟱 — 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳
Once everything is resolved, your incident manager sits down with you to debrief. What happened, what was done, and how to strengthen your business going forward.

This is what cyber insurance actually looks like in action.

Not just a piece of paper. A full team standing behind your business when you need it most.

Save this post. You might need it one day.

People assume that when you work for yourself, holidays are really holidays.

And honestly? Mostly yes.

I get to decide when I work and when I rest. I can answer messages from anywhere, close a case from my phone, join a call from wherever I happen to be sitting. That kind of freedom is something I genuinely treasure.

But self-employed does not mean switched off.

Last Friday, I had just walked through the door after a haircut. Still feeling fresh, totally relaxed.

Then my phone rang. My working partner.

From that one call, the war zone began. Calls, messages, generating quotations, chasing confirmations, racing the clock. From "just got a haircut" to full emergency mode within minutes.

Managed to get everything done on my side. Now trusting the process on the insurer's end. 🤞🏻

That is the reality of this work. No fixed hours, no office to clock out from. The flexibility is real and I would not trade it for anything. But so is the responsibility.

Wherever I am, my clients still come first. 😉
