[Kuala Lumpur, Asia Infonet] – The "AMBITIOUS KOCHI," a group dedicated to promoting organic ingredients from Kochi Prefecture, hosted a tasting event titled ”A glittering Tosa dinner party in Malaysia" on the 25th at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

The event aimed to expand the international market for organic vegetables grown in Kochi. This marks the second overseas promotion for the association, following a similar event held in Taiwan last year. The EQ Hotel collaborated on the project by providing the venue and assisting with menu development.

The association provided organic taro, tomatoes, green peppers, and carrots, which were transformed into a Japanese multi-course (kaiseki) meal by the chefs at Kampachi, the hotel's signature Japanese restaurant. Kampachi has expressed intentions to integrate these dishes into its regular menu moving forward.

The dinner was attended by approximately 20 guests, including importers specializing in Japanese food products. Notable attendees included:
* H.E. Takahashi Katsuhiko, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia
* Three representatives from the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security
* Three officials from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, including the Deputy Mayor

Nara Prefecture Launches Strawberry and Persimmon Promotion in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR (ASIA INFONET) — Building on the success of last year’s campaign, Nara Prefecture has launched its second annual "Nara Prefecture Fair" in Malaysia. The week-long export promotion event, which runs from January 19 to 25, aims to further expand the market share of premium Japanese agricultural products in the growing Southeast Asian market.

Expanding Agricultural Footprint
The primary objective of the fair is to cultivate new sales channels for Nara’s agricultural sector. This year's lineup features three signature products:

Kotoka Strawberries: A premium variety known for its deep red color and high sugar content.

Fuyu Persimmon: Renowned for their sweetness and crunchy texture.

Ampo Dried Persimmon: Traditional Japanese dried persimmons.

Local Collaboration: Mori Kohi
In a strategic move to appeal to local tastes, Nara Prefecture has partnered with Mori Kohi, a popular cafe in Kuala Lumpur. During the event, the cafe will serve as a direct retail point for the three featured products.

Furthermore, Mori Kohi has developed five exclusive menu items, including smoothies and waffles, specifically designed to highlight the unique flavors and quality of Nara produce. These limited-edition desserts will be integrated into the cafe’s menu throughout the promotion period.

The Japan Fruit and Vegetables Export Promotion Council (J-FEC) held a specialized tasting and business matching event in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, January 16, aiming to expand the presence of Japanese agricultural products in the Malaysian market.

This marks the second time the council has hosted such an event in Malaysia, following its successful debut in August last year. The gathering served as a strategic platform for Japanese suppliers to connect directly with influential local importers and distributors.

Four major Japanese entities showcased a diverse range of premium fruits and processed goods:
Bando Foods: Featured innovative processed items, including "Bakasco" (a specialty pepper sauce) and sudachi & cucumber syrup.

ZEN-NOH International: Presented high-quality fruits, including Yamagata apples and popular strawberry varieties such as "Beni-hoppe" and "Kirapika."

JA SHIZUOKA KEIZAIREN: Showcased its world-renowned Crown Melon, alongside Unshu Mikan, kumquats, mini Chinese cabbages, and various green tea products.

TOMINAGA SHOJI: Displayed a versatile lineup including Japanese yams (nagaimo), sweet potatoes, strawberries, pumpkins, and apples.

The event saw active participation from four prominent Malaysian buyers: JMG Trading, Khaishen Trading, Great Harvest, and Cili Gemuk. These industry players engaged in direct negotiations with the Japanese exhibitors, reflecting the growing demand for high-quality, reliable Japanese produce among Malaysian consumers.

The council’s ongoing efforts highlight Malaysia's importance as a key target market in Southeast Asia for Japan’s agricultural export strategy.

This event has been handled by ASIA INFONET (M) SDN BHD.

Petaling Jaya, Selangor – The Hokkaido Miso & Soysauce Manufactures Cooperative (location: Sapporo, Hokkaido) held a tasting and business matching event on the 11th at a Japanese restaurant in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This marks the cooperative's first-ever business meeting of this nature in Malaysia.

Four companies participated in the event:
KOH-ITTEN IWATA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sapporo)
Shibuya Fermentation Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Honbetsu-cho, Nakagawa District)
Hattori Brewing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yakumo-cho, Futami District)
Fukuyama Jozo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sapporo)

They exhibited a total of eight product categories, including miso, soy sauce, and their derived seasonings, under the following respective brands: KOH-ITTEN, Marukyu, Maruhachi, and Tomoe.

The event featured a course-style serving of eight dishes—all creatively arranged by a chef from a Malaysian Japanese restaurant using the exhibited products. Producers introduced their items to the Malaysian buyers, followed by free-style business matching in a dedicated business space.

A total of 18 representatives from the Malaysian buyers attended, including seven import/wholesale companies with extensive experience in Japanese food imports, one retailer, and five chefs (specializing in French, Fusion, and Malaysian cuisine).

This event has been handled by ASIA INFONET (M) SDN BHD.
