Environmental Management System Awareness
Have you ever wondered why many companies running a business that have activities, that aspect the environment, have never cared much about the environment voluntarily?
Well, the answer is simple. Ignorance and profit.
The mindset then boils down to how can I get the most out of a project or order, with minimal spending on the elements that can harm the environment.
The number 1 reason is ignorance. They choose not to know about the pollution till the authorities have them under their radar or till someone blows the whistle..
Firstly, this is our earth and the environment that we live in has to be conducive and sustainable. We then pass this down to our next generation but what if this generation we pollute the environment so badly that our coming generation has to suffer. Imagine drinking water off a running stream was safe 20 years ago but now one has to think twice before drinking. The industrial revolution has brought us great advancement, in-terms of technology and uplifting the quality of our life but on the other hand it has also created potential harm to mother earth and living beings.
The ISO 14001 International Standard has compiled the requirements on what and how a responsible business should be doing to guard the environment and living beings.
ICG will be running 2 separate courses via on-line(ZOOM) for those who are still unaware of the environmental Management System. If your company is not ready to implement ISO 14001, that is fine, but do take the time to understand the requirements, how to identify aspects and impacts in your company and what are the applicable legal requirements that pertains to the scope of your business. Then, take small steps at a time to ensure that you are managing the pollutants identified for your business.
In Malay there is a saying "Sedikit-sedikit lama lama jadi bukit"(Small steps over time makes a big difference).
