Instagram's brand new refresh. A classic case of new doesn't mean it is better. It is not a thoughtful design which is very much 'a work in progress'. To be fair, the restyling looks sleek and modern but they are unable to solve the 'cursive' problem, especially the 'g' & 'r'. It is not legible. You are stuck with 'Instag - & am', not knowing whether it is an 'r' or 'z'? It might be construed as a special character which add confusion to the wordmark? This make it illegible or difficult to decipher. The design team assumed that audience will recognised and relate it to the old logo. If I may add, the old cursive script has more character and personality. The authenticity is now gone. Why change?
