For 29 WCT colleagues, a recent River Educational Trip at Sungai Klang offered an eye-opening look at how waste makes its way into our waterways and the efforts required to remove it.
Organised in collaboration with the Selangor Maritime Gateway under our WCTGives pillar, the programme included a River Awareness Boat Ride and Guided Riverbank Cleanup.
Along the way, our colleagues saw first-hand how rubbish accumulates in the Klang River and how log booms and Interceptors 002 and 005 help trap and remove floating waste. They also rolled up their sleeves to remove litter from the riverbank, turning awareness into action.
The experience was a timely reminder that protecting our rivers begins long before waste reaches the water. It starts with the choices we make every day and how responsibly we dispose of our waste. Every small action counts towards cleaner rivers and a greener tomorrow.
