Selangor has declared 1 September 2026 (Tuesday) a special state public holiday following its SUKMA victory. 🎉

As this is a Section 9 State Public Holiday, it is not automatically a mandatory paid public holiday for private-sector employers.

Employers should check their employment contracts, employee handbook or company public holiday policy to determine whether the holiday should be observed.

Selangor has declared Sept 1 a public holiday after the state topped the medal tally for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2026.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari made the announcement during the closing ceremony for the games here on Monday (Aug 24).
