Today, many families will gather around the TV for Budget 2027. We’ll be watching too.

Like you, we’re hoping for good news for solar homeowners. But Next Energy was founded by engineers, and we plan around what we can measure, not what we hope for. One thing we can measure every single day is the sunlight already landing on your roof.

Policies change from year to year. The sun shows up every morning.

So listen closely to the announcement and take notes. Then decide based on facts, not rumours. If the incentives are generous, you’ll want to be ready to move. If they’re not, your roof can still start working for your family sooner rather than later.

Over the years, we’ve seen that the homeowners who benefit most aren’t the ones who timed it perfectly. They’re the ones who were ready.

On 13 September, a solar cable caught fire 25 metres up a building in Bayan Lepas. No one was hurt, and the official cause is still under investigation.

If you already have solar, or you're planning to get it, I understand if this news made you uneasy. You went solar to protect your family's future, not to start worrying about your roof.

I'm an engineer, and this is what I can tell you. Solar cable fires usually come from the same few things: loose connectors, mismatched parts, cables that aren't rated for our heat, and no checks after installation. Every one of them can be prevented.

That's why Next Energy follows three rules on every job:
Certified installers only
Matched, quality-rated cables and connectors
Monitoring long after installation
Don't let a shortcut turn into a risk. Solar is safe when it's done right.
