What is SOCSO?
SOCSO, or the Social Security Organisation, is a government agency in Malaysia under the Ministry of Human Resources. It is also known by its Malay name, PERKESO (Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial).
SOCSO = Malaysian government’s worker protection insurance scheme that helps you and your family in case of work-related accidents, illness, or death.
As a foreign worker in Malaysia, including Filipinos, contributing to SOCSO (Social Security Organisation, also known as PERKESO) provides several important social protection benefits. Here’s a clear breakdown of the advantages, benefits, and how to claim them:
✅ Advantages of SOCSO Contributions for Foreign Workers
1. Access to Social Security Protection:
• You are entitled to certain financial and medical benefits if you suffer from workplace accidents or occupational diseases.
2. Medical and Rehabilitation Support:
• You can access medical care and rehabilitation without heavy out-of-pocket expenses in case of work-related injuries.
3. Legal Protection:
• Contributions ensure you’re legally protected under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969, giving you access to compensation if you’re injured or disabled due to work.
📋 SOCSO Benefits Available to Foreign Workers
Foreign workers are covered under the Employment Injury Scheme only (not the Invalidity Scheme). Here’s what that includes:

🇵🇭 Can Filipinos Claim SOCSO Contributions?
Yes, Filipinos can claim SOCSO benefits, but only under the Employment Injury Scheme, and only if the claim is related to a work-related injury, illness, or death.
Note: There are no retirement or unemployment benefits under SOCSO for foreign workers. You also cannot withdraw your contributions like with EPF (Employees Provident Fund).
📌 How to Claim SOCSO as a Filipino Worker
1. In Case of Injury:
• Notify your employer immediately.
• Get treatment from a panel clinic or government hospital.
• Your employer must submit Form 21 (Accident Report) and Form 10 (Claim Notification) to SOCSO.
2. For Death Claims:
• The dependents (spouse, children, or parents) must submit a death claim form.
• The employer and family need to provide relevant documents (death certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
3. Where to Submit Claims:
• At the nearest SOCSO office.
• Online through the Assist Portal if the employer is registered.
• Claims should be submitted as soon as possible after the incident.
