RE-OPENING OF MALAYSIA'S BORDER

Approximately 30 minutes from now, Malaysia's border will be re-opened to visitors around the globe regardless whether it's for social visits or work related. The long awaited decision from the government has finally arrived and we can already sense the excitement of foreign visitors about the border re-opening.

The following are some of the latest procedures of entry to Malaysia as of 1st April 2022 we could summarize for you:

Before departure:

1. Kindly ensure to download Mysejahtera tracking application into your mobile devices. You will be required to complete the pre-departure travel form.

2. Please ensure to undergo pre-departure tests (RT-PCR)

3. No approval is required for visitors to obtain approvals either from Mytravelpass or Myentry (except for Short term business traveler & new diplomat and foreign staff & their dependents)

After arrival:

1. Please ensure to undergo test (RTK-Antigen under professional supervision) 24 hours after arrival.

2. There shall be no mandatory quarantine period for fully vaccinated travelers who enter Malaysia as of 1st April 2022.

3. Please ensure to observe masks in public. Recommended to wear 2 masks.

4. Unvaccinated individuals will be allowed to cross state lines.

As of 1st April 2022, Malaysia will reopen its borders allowing people around the world to enter Malaysia with less restrictions. To balance between the economy and heath of the people, the Malaysian government has outlined latest entry and quarantine procedures. Update on entry restrictions on foreign travelers to Malaysia from ESD:

ENTRY RESTRICTIONS ON FOREIGN TRAVELLERS TO MALAYSIA
07 December 2021

Dear Valued Clients,

Please be informed that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has imposed temporary entry restrictions on foreign travellers entering Malaysia from countries with a high risk of the new COVID-19 variant of concern, Omicron or those who have been to the same countries 14 days prior entering Malaysia. The list of the high-risk countries are as follows:

South Africa
Botswana
Eswathini
Lesotho
Mozambique
Namibia
Zimbabwe
Malawi
However, Malaysian citizens, permanent residents and the long-term pass holders are still allowed to enter Malaysia but must undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival.

The long-term passes entitled to this exemption are as follows:

Employment Pass (EP) (Category I, II and III)
Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T)
Professional Visit Pass (PVP)
Dependent Pass (DP)
Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP)

The above measures are temporary and will be reviewed on a regular basis.

11 November 2021

Dear Valued Clients,

We refer to the announcement made on 1 October 2021. The Immigration Department of Malaysia will impose the new services of endorsement at the ESD Satellite Centre (ESC), Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA1) and Delivery of Endorsed Pass.

The ESC, KLIA1 will officially commence operations on 1 December 2021, 7:00AM (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)

We refer to the announcement made on the Expatriate Service Division (ESD) portal on 1 October 2021. We are pleased to announce that the following features and services will be available and take effect on 15th November 2021:

Online endorsement and online payment (Internet Banking or Credit/Debit Card) facilities for Immigration Fee payment will be available on our portal. This will reduce the need for physical documents, eliminate in-person payments, and reduce visits to the Immigration Department and MYXpats Centre.
Delivery of Endorsed Pass for EP and PVP (and its related passes). This will eliminate the need for travel and reduce public movement and will contain safety measures for National Security purposes.
Improved features on the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) portal and streamlining of the existing processes to improve online customer experience. Employers will only be required to upload documents online for endorsement of the Pass. All notifications will be sent through the system.
In addition, please note the following progress updates:
The ESD Satellite Centre (ESC) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA1) will officially commence operations on 1 December 2021.
The service for online Transfer of Endorsement (TOE) will follow the current process until further notice.

PROJECTION OF EXPATRIATES FOR THE YEAR 2022 OPENS ON 01 NOVEMBER 2021

Please be informed that companies registered in the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) online portal may apply for projection of expatriates for Employment Pass (EP) and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) for the year 2022 beginning of 01 November 2021.

MYENTRY APPROVAL IS NO LONGER REQUIRED FOR EXISITNG EP, PVP, RPT, DP LTSVP, MAIDS FOR EXPATRIATES HOLDERS TO ENTER & EXIT MALAYSIA

Following the announcement on 29th Oct 2021, Immigration decides that Myentry approval is no longer required for the following existing long term pass holders:

Employment Pass category I, II & III
Professional Visit Pass (PVP)
Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T)
Dependent Pass (DP) and Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP)
Maids for expatriates

However, for expatriates who do not hold any of the above-mentioned categories (or has newly approved applications and not holding any long-term pass in Malaysia), they are still required to obtain permission to enter Malaysia through MYEntry. The entry procedures upon arrival to Malaysia are still subject to the existing entry guidelines that were introduced earlier.

To better facilitate and meet employers' needs for expatriates, we have put in place a robust online data platform and service-driven system which aims to effectively process Employment (EP) and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) applications for expatriates within its five (5) working days client charter.

We are pleased to announce the following new features and services for the EP and PVP:
Online endorsement and online payment (Internet Banking or Credit/Debit Card) facilities for Immigration Fee payment will be available on our portal. This will reduce the need for physical documents, in-person payments, and reduce visits to Immigration and MYXpats Centre.
Pass sticker delivery for EP and PVP (and related passes).
Newly established ESD Satellite Centre (ESC) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA 1) to endorse approved passes for eligible pass holders.
Improved features on the ESD portal and streamlining of existing processes to improve online customer experience. Employers will only be required to upload documents online for endorsement of the pass. All notifications will be sent through the system.

LATEST UPDATE: HOME QUARANTINE FOR FULLY VACCINATED TRAVELLERS INTO MALAYSIA

The Government of Malaysia has announced that fully vaccinated travellers from overseas now have the option of home quarantine upon arrival in Malaysia.

The travellers can apply for home quarantine at Home Quarantine Application (HQA) Ministry of Health (MOH) portal 7 to 10 days before departure. Please note that the processing charter will be 7 working days and the status can be viewed from the same portal.

However, the application will only be considered if the travellers meet the Home Quarantine Qualifying Criteria.

Please be reminded that the above measures will be reviewed on a regular basis by the Government of Malaysia. Please observe the latest updates on our website from time to time.
