Solar roof full. Electricity bill still high? ⚡

For many factories, rooftop solar can only go so far.

Announced on 18 September 2026, Malaysia’s CRESS Acceleration Package will introduce a 14 sen/kWh Firm System Access Charge, compared with the current 20 sen/kWh — 30% lower.

This is not a 30% reduction in your electricity bill. But lower project costs could make off-site green electricity more commercially attractive for eligible businesses.

CRESS allows qualifying medium- and high-voltage businesses to source renewable electricity from external renewable energy developers through the grid.

One date to note: 31 December 2028. ⏳
Eligible projects must achieve Commercial Operation Date by then to benefit from the 14 sen/kWh package.

If rooftop solar cannot cover enough of your electricity needs, it may be worth reviewing the wider energy mix.
