We recently welcomed leaders from Latvia’s National Institute of Research and Innovation and Riga East University Hospital to our Carlsbad, California, site to explore how we can work together to advance discovery and translational research.

During the visit, the delegation toured our Advanced Therapies Collaboration Center and met with our teams to discuss how technologies supporting cell therapy development, genomics and precision medicine can help researchers tackle complex scientific questions and move discoveries forward.

Thank you to our guests for the thoughtful discussion and shared commitment to advancing science. Together, we look forward to exploring opportunities that support Latvia’s research priorities and, ultimately, help make a meaningful difference for patients.

At our Inchinnan site in Scotland, our colleagues manufacture materials that help scientists research, develop and deliver medicines for patients around the world. Dr Zubir Ahmed MP and Alison Taylor MP recently visited the site to meet the colleagues who manufacture cell culture media and bioprocess liquids for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and research customers worldwide.

Our team shared how these materials help scientists grow and maintain the cells they need for research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, from studying cancer, viruses and the immune system to developing and producing biological medicines.

The visit offered a closer look at the expertise and advanced manufacturing capabilities at Inchinnan, and the role our colleagues play in supporting Scotland’s and the broader UK life sciences sector and global biopharmaceutical supply chains.

Thank you, Dr Zubir Ahmed MP and Alison Taylor MP, for spending time with our colleagues and learning more about the work happening in Inchinnan to support science, innovation and the development and manufacture of medicines worldwide.

When Brad Brakefield’s son needed open-heart surgery, his work manufacturing technology used in the procedure suddenly became personal.

John was born with a severe congenital heart defect and underwent an innovative fetal cardiac procedure and multiple open-heart surgeries. Today, he's a thriving teenager.

At our Charlotte, North Carolina, site, Brad and his colleagues manufacture Membrana™ capillary membranes, a hollow fiber technology used in oxygenators that support the heart and lungs during open-heart surgery.

“The fiber we make at work was instrumental in saving his life,” Brad says. “The person on the other end—it was my son.”

This World Heart Day, their story is a reminder of why quality matters, and of the patients and families at the other end of our work.

Belonging Week brought our colleagues around the world together in all kinds of ways.

Across our sites and teams, colleagues shared stories and experiences, learned more about one another, built new connections and gave back to their communities. Some moments sparked thoughtful conversations. Others brought teamwork, friendly competition and plenty of fun. Together, they showed how making time for one another can strengthen the relationships behind the work we do every day.

Thank you to everyone who organized, participated, volunteered or simply showed up ready to connect. Let’s carry that spirit forward by continuing to listen, learn and support one another so every colleague feels empowered as we deliver on our Mission together.

Every new medicine starts with years of careful scientific work. At our new facility in Covington, Kentucky, our colleagues are helping researchers turn promising ideas into medicines that can reach patients around the world.

We recently welcomed Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to Covington to meet our colleagues and see how they support pharmaceutical and biotech companies as they develop and test new medicines.

The new facility is part of our investment in our Northern Kentucky operations. Working closely with our nearby Highland Heights site, the team supports research that helps scientists better understand potential new medicines and move them closer to the patients who need them.

Thank you to Governor Beshear for spending time with our Covington colleagues and learning more about the people and science behind the development of new medicines.

30 young innovators. Big questions. Ideas that could shape the future.

Meet the finalists of the 2026 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.

These middle school scientists and engineers are tackling real-world challenges — from kelp forest recovery and wildfire risk to traumatic brain injury and the way language shapes conversations on social media.

Representing 17 states and Puerto Rico, the finalists will head to Washington, D.C. in October to put their research, creativity and collaboration skills to the test while competing for more than $100,000 in awards.

As our Chief Scientific Officer Karen Nelson shared, “We hope they walk away from Finals Week more confident in their own ideas, inspired by their peers and motivated to examine the challenges they encounter in their daily lives through the lens of science.”

Together with Society for Science, we’re helping give young innovators the opportunity to follow their curiosity, challenge assumptions and see just how far their ideas can go.

Today, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Mayo Clinic announced the launch of Precure, LLC, designed to help researchers better understand the biological changes that occur before symptoms of disease appear.

Precure will bring together genomic and proteomic data generated from one million biospecimens with health information collected over time, creating one of the world’s leading biomedical datasets. Using advanced AI and large-scale data analytics, researchers will be able to identify patterns at significant scale, with the potential to deepen understanding of disease biology, accelerate drug development and create new opportunities for earlier diagnosis, intervention and more personalized care.

The research will span major health conditions, such as cancer, cardiometabolic disease, neurological disorders and immune-mediated disease.

By combining our industry-leading proteomics expertise and solutions with Mayo Clinic’s world-class clinical and research leadership, we’re helping create a powerful resource to help researchers uncover new insights into how disease develops and translate those discoveries into meaningful advances for patients.

Together, we’re advancing science that can help make the world healthier.

We recently opened Thermo Fisher Scientific’s first AI-Automation Innovation Center in Seoul, Korea, a place where customers and our experts can work together to explore how AI, automation, scientific analysis and data can shape the laboratory of the future.

As AI creates new possibilities across drug discovery, biotechnology, advanced materials and other fields, scientists still need to test those ideas through physical experiments, turn the results into trusted data and use that information to guide what comes next. The center is designed to make that process more efficient and help researchers put new technologies to work. Customers can bring real research challenges, develop new ways of working alongside our experts and test how those approaches could be used in their own laboratories.

By working closely with customers and partners, the center will help explore and test new ways for our customers to use AI, automation and data together. It also creates a foundation for broader collaboration with researchers, companies, institutions and technology partners in Korea and around the world.
