AUG 15-18: Swissma was pleased to support Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Alam for the 37th Architecture Student Workshop 2026, themed MULAseMULA — a call to begin again.
The workshop encouraged students to look back at the basics of architecture and think about how good design can meet real needs, even as technology and AI continue to change the industry.
During the session, Mr. Low Ping Hing, Managing Director of Swissma Building Technologies Sdn. Bhd., shared practical tips on choosing the right metal roofing profiles based on roof design, size and purpose. He also touched on thermal comfort, Building By-Law requirements, acoustic requirements and BS 8414 fire testing, giving students a better understanding of the practical considerations behind roofing and façade design.
Mr. Ng Cheah Haur, Technical Solution Manager from NS BlueScope Malaysia shared on the importance of selecting the right coated steel for both durability and aesthetics. Students were introduced to ways of testing quality coated steel, including COLORBOND® steel, and how choosing the right material can help to ensure longer durability.
It was a great opportunity to share industry knowledge, exchange ideas and connect with the future generation of architects.
