BrandHack Catch The 'New Normal' Trends & Dominate The Market With Your Brand

28/07/2026

Saya tengok berita brand besar tutup operasi dengan perasaan bercampur.
Sedih. Terkejut. Tapi juga penuh pengajaran.
Brand-brand ni pernah jadi harapan dan kebanggaan industri.
Jadi apa yang kita boleh belajar? Reminder for me too.
Here's the 5 lessons.
1. Bisnes bukan sprint
Everthing takes time to grow. Always stay grounded and have realistic expectation.
Benda tak boleh paksa. Nak cepat, ada risikonya. Ada tahap growth yang perlukan masa.
Walaupun waktu tu kita rasa kita dah ada semua. Dah terpaling ready.
Always listen carefully to ourselves. Betul ke kita yang bercakap? Atau ego kita yang sedang bercakap.
2. Sales volatility
Contoh kebanyakan bisnes brick and mortar.
Ada orang, bila dia naik, dia betul2 naik. Tapi bila turun, silap haribulan boleh menjunam. Fasa ‘feast and famine’. A pattern of extreme highs and lows.
Unpredictable income. Unpredictable demand.
Kene faham dan korek habis-habisan. Bila naik, apa punca sebenarnya. Sebab hype ke. Trend ke. Viral ke.
Sejauh mana kita ‘in control’ of that volatility.
3. Bulking vs cutting (year after year)
Cutting - Buang balik lemak terkumpul.
Setiap tahun kalau bulking (sales naik berpuluh kali ganda), bila masa nak cutting?
Bila masa nak buang "lemak2" yang berbahaya dan ‘clean up the mess’? Cutting pun perlukan masa.
Again.
On the infra punya side. Sistem, stock, branding, accounting, product quality, inventory, design language, focus group, etc.
Listen carefully kepada feedback customer. Repair and refine with them.
4. Commodity curse (Sumpahan komoditi)
To them, it’s a commodity. Not a brand. Jadi mereka akan cari yang paling murah. Quality pun not bad. Design cantik p**ak tu.
Benda dah jadi keperluan. Bukan kehendak.
Produk kita nothing special. Mudah ditiru.
Inimitability rate sangat tinggi.
5. Think legacy
Kita bukan sekadar jual produk.
Sentiasa adapt. Sentiasa berjaga-jaga. Sentiasa paranoid walaupun sales tengah mencanak naik.
Dan tentang design p**a?
That is only part of the whole brand systems.
Brand sells emotions. Commodity sells logic (features).
Esok mungkin giliran kita p**a.

You are not married to your niche
And its not about luck either. Not really. Its about STRENGTH and leverage.
Apa skop kerja yang aku patut fokuskan sekarang? Yang memberikan leverage yang paling tinggi.
Define that clearly.
Then apply to that new venture.

Yes, ianya akan ambil masa untuk ‘take off’.
Have faith.
We always have options. But we must be patient.
Understanding the natural law of time and formation.
Put our soul. Our strength, our mojo into that thing.
And if we are PATIENT enough, any ‘crap’ will eventually become gold if it’s not driven by money alone.

Inside JOVI’s Next Chapter.
The more I work with them, the more I realise that their vision goes far beyond simply creating another product.
Behind the scenes, there is genuine curiosity, constant experimentation, and an obsession with the smallest details. All in pursuit of creating something truly distinctive.
Still a work in progress, and we’re keeping this one under wraps for now.
But something new is beginning to take shape.
More to come.

A good brand direction often begins with one honest conversation.
With Asyraf from El Nahl, discussing how honey-based products can expand into the world of sports, active lifestyle, natural energy, and purposeful wellbeing.
That conversation became the starting point for El Nahl+.
Not just honey.
But energy in motion.

If all you sell is features, don’t be surprised when people compare you on price.
In fashion, growth lives in the nuance and in the little details.

If better hooks, better lighting, and better edits were the answer, your brand would already be winning.
Content doesn’t create differentiation. It reveals it. Fix identity first. Then content works.

Wanna look just like another me-too brand? That customers perceive as mere commodities?

You know when you see a brand that looks polished but feels completely typical and generic? That’s what happens when businesses rely 100% on AI for branding strategy, names, identities and design without adding their own creative touch.

During one of our sessions with the co-founders of Khuka, we weren’t talking about pricing.
We were talking about power.
Because when you’re forced to discount, the market has already decided you’re replaceable. The ball is in their court, and you’re at their mercy.
That’s not a pricing problem. It’s commoditisation by sameness and apple to apple comparison.
More TikTok lives won’t fix it. More influencers won't fix it. Louder content won’t fix it.
That was the real issue with most clients we work with. Keep 'amplify' the wrong thing. But still being compared to in products, features and price, until USP brings no significant meaning... and lost its power.
So no, the escape was never better marketing or better live host.
It was changing how the market judges them. How the market perceives them. From commodity to category.
You don’t win price wars. You redesign the category.
