What are Audit Findings?
ISO Audits do not result in a grade, percentage or score. The results of ISO audits are findings. It is a statement of fact based on objective evidence.
Once all the audit data has been gathered accordingly, auditor will need to analyze and determine the data, to be classified in which category of audit finding. In general, there are 3 types of Audit Findings. They are: Conformance, Non-conformance (NCR) and Opportunity For Improvement (OFI).
Non-conformances (NCR)
Non-conformances are areas where the organization’s quality management system does not comply with one of the requirements of the standard or where the organization failed to show evidence of compliance. The Non-conformances shall have a clear requirement that was not met and there is clear evidence of what was seen.
Opportunities for Improvement (OFI)
Opportunities for improvement are areas that are not necessarily wrong or not meeting the requirements of the standard. OFI are rather practices that are potential to be nonconformance. Auditor usually point opportunities for improvement, when they believe –based on their expertise of quality management systems-that those practices could be enhanced or done more efficiently.
