Energy Engineer
Job description
Responsibilities:
1) To conduct energy audit (Level 1, 2 and 3) at various facilities – higher education, governmental, healthcare, commercial and industrial facilities.
2) Collect desktop information from clients regarding their utility bill record, mechanical and electrical system equipment list, operation and maintenance Manual and drawings in order to have sufficient information before carrying site survey (Visual Inspection) and energy measurement.
3) Carry out visual inspection and site survey on building envelope, mechanical and electrical equipment, control system and other energy related system or processes to confirm installation as per desktop data, check operating hours and control strategies if any. It is also to check physical condition of the system or equipment.
4) Carry out energy measurement related activities such as installation and uninstallation of power logging and thermal (BTU) logging, measurement of indoor temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration and lux level, measurement of air flow-rate and temperature, measurement of boiler flue gas, combustion gas and others.
5) Carry out data analysis on the collected data by using Excel Spreadsheet software and other associated software (if needed) such as Dialux, Calculux, Radiance, EnergyPlus, Fan System Assessment Tool, Pump System Assessment Tool, Steam System Modeller and others.
6) Develop short, medium and long-term strategies to increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gases and minimize unnecessary consumption.
7) Calculate energy savings, energy cost savings and budget for investment; and compute investment analysis such as Payback Period, Return on Investment, Internal Rate of Return, and Nett Present Value, for each energy efficiency strategies.
8. Participate in the design and renovation of buildings as part of the design or construction team to ensure energy efficiency is met.
9) Prepare Energy Audit Report or proposal to Client to present findings of the energy audit exercises and to propose best energy efficiency strategies to client.
10) Promote energy efficiency best practices, green and sustainability awareness to client.
Requirements
1) Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/ELV Engineering with minimum 3 years working experienced in the related field.
2) Experience in any energy efficiency and green technology project, energy management system, energy auditing or energy efficiency best practices.
3) Candidate with following credentials would be added advantage:
a. Registered Electrical Energy Manager
b. GBI Facilitators
c. GreenRE Manager
d. Certified Energy Manager
e. Certified Energy Auditor
f. LEED AP / Associate
g. CPMV / CMVP
h. ISO 50001 Expert
4) Familiar with guidelines, standards and codes related to Energy Efficiency such as MS 1525 and ASHRAE 90.1.
5) Good technical and analytical skills
6) Proven skills in communication (English and Bahasa Melayu)
7) A good team player
