What is Stop Work Authority?
The right and responsibility of every worker to stop a task when they believe there is an unsafe condition, unsafe act or immediate danger.

When Should You Stop Work?
✅ You see an unsafe condition
✅ A required safety control is missing
✅ Someone is not using PPE correctly
✅ Equipment or tools appear damaged or unsafe
✅ The job is being performed differently from the safe work procedure
✅ You are unsure whether the task can be done safely

What Should You Do?

1. STOP
Pause the work when you identify a safety concern

2. SPEAK UP
Inform your supervisor or the person in charge

3. ASSESS
Identify the hazard and determine what needs to be corrected

4. CORRECT
Put the necessary controls in place

5. RESUME SAFELY
Only continue when the risk has been properly addressed
