Young Gryphons Excel at Malaysian Business Student Summit 2024 with Support from Universiti Utara Malaysia

With the invaluable support of Universiti Utara Malaysia, the Young Gryphons from Koperasi Keusahawanan Siswa Berhad showcased their talents and expertise at the prestigious Malaysian Business Student Summit 2024. Held at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University Malaya, from 29th February to 2nd March 2024, the summit aimed to equip budding entrepreneurs with practical skills and knowledge in various aspects of business.

The team of Young Gryphons, comprising Lam Ci Kin, Chan Xiu Hui, Law Jun Feng, Lim Hong Zhe, and Alban Heng Yu Cheng, left an indelible mark at the summit with their dedication and hard work. Their efforts were rewarded with significant accolades, as Alban Heng Yu Cheng and Lam Ci Kin brought honor to their alma mater by clinching top awards. Lam Ci Kin emerged as the recipient of the champion group award, while Alban Heng Yu Cheng secured the prestigious second runner-up group award. Furthermore, Lam Ci Kin's exceptional performance earned him the luminary award, earning praise and recognition from all participants.

The remarkable achievements of the Young Gryphons at the Malaysian Business Student Summit 2024 not only reflect their individual talents but also underscore the strong support and guidance provided by Universiti Utara Malaysia, specially giving credits to the Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Development Institution (CEDI) for supporting and guiding the team along the way! Their success serves as a testament to the dedication and perseverance of young entrepreneurs, inspiring future generations to pursue excellence in the field of business.

I am Ivy Lee, the Co-Founder, Chief Operation Officer & Chief Financial Officer of Team Gryphon, aka Koperasi Keusahawanan Siswa Berhad.

Team Gryphon is a privately registered multiracial business cooperative that gathers active entrepreneurs in local universities to establish a supportive ecosystem and entrepreneurial community within campuses. Yes! We help university students build businesses and support them via the CTAC model: Consultation, Training, Analysis, and Community. To date, we have assisted 9 teams of student entrepreneurs in starting up their physical businesses in the Foyer of COLGIS UUM, generating a collective revenue of RM 46,000 within one semester, from April to July 2023.

As I quote from the late Chandni Sharma, “The key to success is to focus on goals not obstacles.” We are here for a purpose, providing solutions to three problems that exist within university campuses, inhibiting the nurturing of more new young entrepreneurs.

❓Lack of a sustainable community for student entrepreneurs.
❓Lack of a platform for student entrepreneurs to continue their businesses after graduation.
❓Lack of systematic support to develop student entrepreneurs.

We are the Gryphons, the impact makers, the future leaders, and the nation developers.

Lastly, we must thank Universiti Utara Malaysia and Associate Professor Dr. Jauriyah binti Shamsuddin for advising us in the process of establishing and managing this private business entity solely by students. 🙌

Shout out to young talents who are aggressively thirsty for a platform to utilize your great minds, be professional, and break through your limits. The door is always open for you to grow together with us. There is no spoon-feeding in our culture. You will have to be a thinker, a creator, and an explorer! 🚀
