Congratulations to 5ETP member, Oscar Ling along with his teammate Hoh Jia Da from Universiti Putra Malaysia for emerging as Champion of the HACKFEST MBSP 2021.

Hackfest MBSP 2021 is an event where developers, government employees, designers, journalists, data scientists, non - profit employees, UX designers, and residents who care about their communities come together leveraging their skills to help their community by building solutions to improving MBSP’s services. All the proposed solutions submitted to MBSP will be fully owned by MBSP.

There are a total of 4 problem statements provided by the MBSP. Team Hackidz tackle the information collection for award nomination problem statements provided by MBSP’s Management and Human Resource Department. The winning idea namely “ePencalonan” is a platform to digitalise the whole information collection process by incorporating technology such as image processing, OCR technology and AI bot.

Congratulations to 5ETP students, Oscar Ling, Tan Jun Jie along with their teammate Hoh Jia Da (Universiti Putra Malaysia) and Ng Kha Yun (Nanyang Technological University) for emerging as the First Runner-up of the Corporate Insight & Empowerment (CIE) 7.0! The team took home RM 4,000 cash prize after competing with 164 individuals (42 teams) during the final round held virtually on zoom.

In this competition, participants conducted an in-depth case study on the given task and submitted a proposal that contains vital elements such as financial, business model, stake-holder analysis, crisis management, competitor analysis, SWOT analysis, Go-to-market strategies and communication plan.

The final judges composed of business leaders and professionals representing various fields and industries were invited to evaluate the performance of the contestants. In the final round, they were Janice Low, the Assistant VP of talent acquisition and workplace futurisation from Maybank Malaysia; Kenneth Z Tan, Head of HR centre of excellence from Shopee Malaysia and Lin Sin Han, Director of Advisory from BDO.

Congratulations Tan Jun Jie, 5ETP Technopreneurship Batch 8 and his team, Mecha-Hacker for emerging as 2nd Runner-up in ​IEEE Innovation Nation Malaysia Techno-prenuership Bootcamp 2020, ​bringing back USD800 project funding.
This team composed of Tan Jun Jie, Sheref Khaled Abouelmagd, Khor Chee Yong and Chong Kar Lok under the supervisor, Assoc Prof Ir. Dr Mohd Ridzuan bin Ahmad. Their team project, Ai.care is a Health Screening & Access Monitoring System that automates and fastens the screening process and acquiring the customer records.
IEEE Innovation Nation Malaysia is Techno-preneurship Bootcamp and competition that aims to provide a platform for techno-entrepreneurs to learn and equip themselves with advanced technical knowledge and business minded pitching skills. The objective of this event organization is to motivate more Malaysia entrepreneurs to be driven by technology invention and creation to tackle local issues with technological solutions as well as to prepare them with adequate knowledge on the startup ecosystem.

Congratulations ​Tan Jun Jie, 5ETP Technopreneurship Track for emerging as a 2nd runner-up in Youth Leadership Academy Malaysia 2020 with his social initiative, FutureLink. They brought back RM1,500 social project grants to expand their social business.
He is also proud to be shortlisted as the top 30 high performing Malaysia Undergraduate to join the program after going through 3 stages of candidates screening process that includes Essay Writing, Video Interview and Case Study Interview by McKinsey & Co.

Youth Leadership Academy Malaysia (YLA) is an initiative by McKinsey & Company that aims to provides unique leadership development opportunity for high performing Malaysian undergraduates

[TAR UC E-Data HACKATHON 2020]

On 25th October 2020, one team from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) were declared as the 2nd Runner Up at TAR UC E-Data Hackathon 2020. One of the team members are Oscar Ling Fang Jack, 5ETP student from Leadership Track Batch 8.

TAR UC E-Data Hackathon 2020 is organised by TAR UC CoE of BDA and AI, and Computer Science Society.

The hackathon requires participants to collect their data and design and develop an AI tool kit that can help local business or industry. Participants need to design their prototype and solution based on 3 problem statements given by the industries.

Oscar Ling Fang Jack, 5ETP Leadership Track Batch 8, along with his team named Deep Vision were declared as Champion for University Open Virtual Hackathon (West Malaysia) organised by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), MPC Electrical & Electronics Productivity Nexus (EEPN), Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Youth Ventures and co-organized by UTM.

The Deep Port Vision team had created an AI Inspection System for port. This system is a one stop solution for port operators to manage their container smartly. Deep Port Vision contained 4 features including container info recognition, physical damage detection, dashboard for monitoring and Big data predictive detection.

5ETP member batch 8 of Leadership Track, Oscar Ling Fang Jack (left) and his team has become the champion for ASEAN Data Science Explorer 2020 in National level.

The team known as Psyduck beat 852 participants through an online platform competition.

With this victory, the Psyduck group win a prize money of USD 800.00 (RM3,300.00) and will once again compete to represent Malaysia at the international level which will take place in Vietnam.

17th International Seismic Design Competition At San Diego , California
2 March - 6 March 2020
Team Univerisiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) as the sole representative of Malaysia had participated in the 17th international seismic design competition in San Diego , California in conjunction with National Earthquake Conference. UTM is the only team in Asia to manage to get into the final round. The competition intended to challenge students to come up with innovative building design which is cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing and able to withstand ground motions. Besides that, the competition also focus on the communication parts such as presentation and auction skills. There are a lots of top university that participate in the competition including Univeristy of California, university of British Columbia, Stanford Univeristy and more.It was an achievement to be on the same stage with top universities in the world.

Pasukan Univerisiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) merupakan satu-satunya pasukan yang berjaya mewakili Malaysia dan Asia dan mara ke peringkat akhir dalam SDC2020 yang berlangsung di San Diego, California , USA pada 2 Mac- 6 Mac 2020.
