Moving house is always one of those times when you also consider that Africa can be a massive culture shock to some and Maputo even more so due to the language barrier; if you haven't already mastered Portuguese everything is daunting. Throw in a new job to boot and you have a potentially tricky chapter to navigate. We know this, we have been here a long time, we can help you to get through it. When I first moved to Mozambique I lived in an orphanage in Catembe (before there was a bridge!) and the Catembe Gallery Hotel was my secret hide out when I needed some decent coffee and a sense of normality. It still holds that special place for me now.

Stunning view of the city. Chilled vibe. Full restaurant and bar for day guests. Highly recommend for a lazy weekend lunch.

This is one of my favourite places to bring tourists and family visitors when they come to Maputo. It’s an experience to take the boat across, then you get this stunning view of the city without having to smell it.
