Well....😤
We lost a monumental figure in the basketball world, a man whose presence and vision changed the lives of countless individuals across Africa and beyond. I first met Dikembe Mutombo in 1999 at Camp 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The camp gathered the top 100 basketball players from all over the continent, offering us an opportunity to grow, learn, and dream. What started as Camp 100 evolved into what is now known as Basketball Without Borders Africa, a program that opened doors for many of us to pursue basketball and education.
Through his leadership, Dikembe showed us that we could aspire to greatness, both on and off the court. His efforts alongside other NBA players were not just about the game; they were about building communities, creating opportunities, and empowering young African athletes to reach their full potential.
Though his passing is a deeply saddening moment, it also reminds us of our responsibility to carry his vision forward. We are inspired to work even harder, to continue nurturing young talent, and to give back to the communities that shaped us. Dikembe Mutombo touched our lives in immeasurable ways, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he transformed.
Thank you, Dikembe, for showing us that we can, and for dedicating your life to building a better future for the youth of Africa and the world. Your impact will never be forgotten.
Yep! I remember taking a picture of your shoe....! and it will not be easy to fit
