Never end a sentence with a preposition...

Eg:
He is the one I was speaking to. (grammatically wrong)

I am looking forward to receive your letter. (grammatically wron)

I am looking forward to receiving your letter. (grammatically right)

If I was your man...

This is surely grammatically incorrect, though it sounds well in spoken English.

If I were your man...

Grammatically correct. You wish like you could take somebody's place...the one who is her man, but you are truely in a different position...you are not her man.
In the second sentence you advance the possibility of being her man, but the truth is you are not. (SECOND CONDITIONAL)

Eg: If I were you, I would study more.

If I were you, I would go to the doctor.

Thoughin informal (and grammatically incorrect) English, you may hear some people say IF I WAS... This usage doesn't sound good, so avoid it.

You can also change the order:
eg: I would study more if I were you (without comma)
