Gerry Heij is without a doubt the longest living, practicing Auctioneer in Namibia at the ripe age of 71 years old. Back in the day he learnt his auctioneering skills from the legendary Ernie Pote in Windhoek who used to do his regular Friday night auctions at the Eros Service Station in the 1970’s. Gerry started the first auction business in Namibia in the 1980’s, which was named AUCTION HOUSE an

d later became GERRY’S AUCTIONS. Gerry then proceeded to open a vehicle auction business in Windhoek known as GERRY’S CAR SALES. Gerry gradually became an expert at all auctions including businesses, property, mines, antiques, vehicles and general house hold goods. Twenty years ago Gerry moved with his family to Swakopmund and went onto open another auction business which became known as COASTAL AUCTIONS. With its regular and very well know Saturday auctions together with various other outside auctions including mines, municipal, sheriff and charity initiatives, Gerry has become a household name in Namibia. Brett Hodgkinson (married to Carol Heij) is a former 1st Assistant Director in Film/TV industry from South Africa. Through the years as an Assistant Director, Brett has acquired the skill of captivating an audience, paying close attention to detail, multitasking efficiently and ultimately what is known in film terminology as “running a floor”. Brett has a natural “people skill” and is the perfect candidate to continue Gerry’s auctioneering legacy.
