Namibian Creativity Takes Center Stage at UNGA80! 🇳🇦🗽

What an immense honor and privilege it was to be part of the cultural and creative industry business delegation accompanying Her Excellency, the President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly ( ) in New York.

This trip was a powerful affirmation that Namibia's creative economy is a strategic priority, positioning our local talent for global investment and partnership.

Hearing President Nandi-Ndaitwah's address was a profound moment, reinforcing the vision of a diversified and empowered Namibian economy. Her statement clearly identified our sector as a key driver of the nation's future, noting:

"Hence, we have identified agriculture, sports, youth empowerment, education and training, creative industries, health services, land and housing as critical sectors, supported by mining, energy, water, tourism, infrastructures development, transport and logistics, to sustain our economic development, through our long-term development blueprint, Vision 2030."

This mandate is a huge leap for LI MEDIA and the entire industry. It’s an open invitation to the world to invest in the storytelling, innovation, and boundless talent within our borders.

My sincere gratitude goes to all the key stakeholders and partners who made this impactful mission possible:
* The Office of the President of Namibia for this monumental opportunity and leadership.

* The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) for driving this business-focused engagement and championing the diversification of our economy.

* The Ministry of International Relations and Trade for facilitating Namibia's robust economic diplomacy on the world stage.

We are ready to translate this high-level advocacy into tangible growth and job creation for Namibian youth and creatives. The time for the Namibian creative industry to shine is now!

Save the dates !!!

WHAT IS HERITAGE?
Heritage is the word we use to describe the things that we feel are important to preserve
and protect. It can be the objects, places, and traditions that one generation wants to pass
on to the next.
WHAT IS THE NAMIBIAN HERITAGE WEEK AND ITS HISTORY?
Namibian Heritage Week originated with the idea of the National Museum of Namibia to
have an annual Museum Day. The Museums Association of Namibia became a partner,
extending the day to the regions. After the National Heritage Council and other
stakeholders joined, it was decided to enlarge the event and change the name to
Namibian Heritage Week.
The week encourages all Namibians to celebrate and commit to protecting our excellent
natural and cultural resources. Namibia
’
s major heritage institutions (dubbed the
“Namibian Heritage Week Team
”) have joined together to organise Namibian Heritage
Week. However, the point about the week is that every Namibian can participate in some
way to celebrate our cultural and natural heritage.
WHAT ARE THE THEME AND DATES FOR NAMIBIAN HERITAGE WEEK 2025?
Each year, the theme for Namibian Heritage Week will be in an indigenous Namibian
language as part of our commitment to promoting pride in our cultural diversity.
The theme for Namibian Heritage Week 2025 is Bahindi Belambi lye Chizo Chetu in
Subiya, which loosely translates to “Torchbearers of Our Heritage” in English.
Namibian Heritage Week is held during the third week of September each year. Therefore,
Namibian Heritage Week 2025 will be 15 – 21 September 2025.
