Day 1 of the TKCMC Working Group Meeting ended well, bringing together representatives from Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa to advance key initiatives along the Trans-Kalahari Corridor.
During the opening session, the South African TKCMC Chairman, Mr Segodi Mogotsi highlighted the corridor’s achievements, including the successful Cycling for the TKC campaign and ongoing infrastructure developments such as the widening of the N4 and upgrades at the Trans Kalahari, Mamuno and Pioneer Gate border posts.
The Botswana Co-Chair Mr Aurgur Malefho emphasized the importance of compliance with FMD protocols and welcomed South Africa’s interest in participation in the Trans-Kalahari Rail (TKR) project, noting the importance of an integrated road and rail corridor.
The Executive Director underscored the need for the agreed standards and commitments of the three Member States to translate into tangible outcomes, reaffirming the value of collaboration and active participation in driving corridor development.
