Nanny arrested after severely injuring two-year-old boy

A little two year old boy is battling for his life in a Windhoek hospital after sustaining third degree burn wounds on his stomach, face and shoulders at the hands of a woman who was supposed to take care of him.
According to City police spokesperson, Fabian Amukwelele, the nanny was instructed to bath the child, whereupon she put boiling hot water in a tub and he allegedly jumped in the bath tub by himself, a claim that police find strange, given the areas on his body where he sustained severe burn wounds.
"She said she put the hot water in the tub. What is very suspicious about the incident is the fact that the child did not sustain any burns wounds on his hands or feet. If he really jumped in the bath tub, he would have sustained injuries on these areas. When we asked how she removed the child from the water without sustaining injuries, she said she pulled the little boy out with her fingers. This woman shows no sign of remorse, no signs of being sorry and seems to be very cold at heart," Amukwelele said.
The nanny has since been arrested and is set to make an appearance in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm tomorrow.
Amukwelele said he child is in a critical condition.
