PM IMPRESSED BY BIPA ONE-STOP CENTRE PROGRESS: Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has praised the rapid progress made by the One-Stop Centre (OSC) located at BIPA, describing it as a practical demonstration of government's commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and creating an investor friendly environment.

During a briefing by the CEO Ainna Vilengi Kaundu and BIPA executives, the Prime Minister was informed that more than 3,500 clients have been successfully served since the inception of the OSC.

Impressed by the achievement within a short period of time, he encouraged the institution to maintain the momentum and ensure that aspiring business owners receive efficient and accessible services.

Ngurare called for closer collaboration between BIPA and the Fund administrators such as the Development Bank of Namibia. He said entrepreneurs should receive assistance and mentorship to improve funding applications before registering businesses, making the entire process smoother, supportive and more effective.

The Prime Minister also urged an aggressive campaign to popularise the National Youth Fund and boost the uptake of the N$500 million facility. He stressed that young people should not be excluded because of a lack of formal qualifications, noting that some of Namibia's most successful entrepreneurs, including Dr. Aupa Indongo, built business empires without academic credentials.

He further called for greater systems integration and digitalisation to ensure seamless service delivery, while urging BIPA to find ways to protect and digitalize systems to ensure seamless service delivery.

The One-Stop Centre is open and fully operational, with government exploring the possibility of replicating the model across the country to bring services closer to the people.

Law Society of Namibia and BIPA Engagement

The Law Society of Namibia conducted a stakeholder engagement visit to the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) on Friday, 29 May. The purpose of the engagement was to strengthen collaboration and ensure greater alignment between the two institutions, particularly in relation to the incorporation and regulatory aspects of legal practices.

Discussions centred on identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance mutual understanding of regulatory requirements, and improve the overall efficiency of interactions between legal practitioners and BIPA. Both parties also explored areas for increased support and ongoing engagement, with a view to fostering a more coordinated and effective working relationship.

In addition, the engagement provided a platform for both institutions to share their respective strategic priorities and future plans. This exchange enabled the identification of synergies and collaborative opportunities aimed at strengthening the partnership and enhancing service delivery to stakeholders.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both the Law Society of Namibia and BIPA to maintain open communication and to build a sustainable, long-term relationship that supports the evolving needs of the legal profession and the broader business environment.
