DAY 23 — PARENTING 🌱
Teach Your Child How to Handle Disappointment
As parents, we naturally want to make our children happy. Sometimes, when they cry because they didn't get what they wanted, we quickly give in just to stop the tears.
But our children need to learn something important: life will not always go their way.
They may not always get the toy they want.
They may lose a competition.
A friend may say “no” to them.
They may fail at something they worked hard for.
Instead of immediately fixing everything, teach them how to process their feelings.
You can say:
“I know you're disappointed. It's okay to feel sad, but let's talk about what happened.”
Teach your child that disappointment is not the end of the world. It is an opportunity to learn patience, resilience and emotional strength.
Don't raise children who expect life to always be easy. Raise children who know how to keep going when things don't go their way. ❤️
Question for parents:
How do you normally respond when your child doesn't get what they want?
