In a recent interview, Bovi shared his son had damaged three TV sets in the past, and he never disciplined him. He goes on to replace the TV sets. But that is not the crux of this post.
You see, his son, whom he talked about, suffers from a speech impediment and only recently began getting better. So, the struggle to speak sometimes made him react in different ways. It could be stuttering, and I know how it feels because I stutter sometimes.
What would've been a perfect opportunity for Bovi to shine a light on special needs children in Nigeria, turned out to be a mockery of poor people because he goes on to focus on his capacity to replace the TV sets instead of sharing more details to help parents understand how to navigate such situations.
Now, it has become a battle between poor people who can't afford to change TV sets when damaged by their kids and rich people who can change them.
Damaging the TV at home is another point entirely. Although I've read so much about child pedagogy, I do not have enough real-life experience, directly or indirectly, to comment on that.
If you damage a TV in my house, that is the last one we will have for a long time. Plus, the next one will be ganging near the ceiling, as in most USA homes.
Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
