The Other Lesson
Sometimes lessons are not stated, but demonstrated. They are not words, but actions. If you look well, you might miss them
In the measurement of power today, followership is an important metric. That's how the term "Influecers", gained popularity. Those with the greatest followers, command high levels of influence, and often become icons of whatever they promote. These figures often assume near superhuman aura, and can seem infallible.
This is one reason why, they often stick to their guns. Many with as few as 500k followers will not dare re-cant a stand, for the fear of loss of followership. Such figures hardly ever re-trace their steps or apologize for errors.
On Wiki, RCCG is reported to have 5m members in 197 countries of the world. That figure is actually less in reality. Pastor Adeboye has influence beyond the confines of RCCG. Social media handles of Pastor Adeboye commands millions in followership. His programs draws millions. He is 82 years old. An acclaimed academic- with a PhD, and several other honorary PhD's.
Yet........... He stood up, and said, "Am sorry, what I taught, was not in the Bible"
The other lesson is that, when you refuse to apologize, its not just pride, it is folly. If you apologize, you have not lost anything.
Many arguements are going on now - in homes, offices, churches, families etc because, someone won't say the magic words, "Am sorry". They are too right to be sorry. They are too big to be sorry. They are too influential to apologize.
Some will lose jobs, marriages, vital relationships, money, and sometimes life, because they won't dare admit wrong.
Someone will go to hell today. Because s/he, won't tell God, "Am sorry". They are too intelligent, too rich, too beautiful, too hot, or too modern, to admit wrong or even sin.
The other lesson is that "Am sorry", doesn't kill, doesn't diminish, doesn't destroy.
As for me. I have pinned "am sorry", to my tongue. It will come out very easily.
