She has a favourite subject in school. A dream she shares with her friends. A future she sometimes imagines before falling asleep. She is still figuring out who she wants to be. She should have time to do that.
But for millions of girls, childhood is interrupted by marriage. Their education may end, their choices may shrink, and the future they once imagined may suddenly feel out of reach.
No girl should have to give up her childhood before she has had the chance to live it.
Her story can be different.
She can stay in school. She can be heard. She can grow up free from harmful practices and make decisions about her own future.
That is why ending child marriage matters. And that is why investing in girls’ rights cannot wait.
This International Day of the Girl Child, let us work towards a world where girls have the freedom and opportunity to become everything they dream of being.
Let her be a child. Let her dream. Let her choose her future.

PEACE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF NOISE.

It is what happens when people can disagree without becoming enemies.
When communities can demand justice without fear.
When young people have a voice in the decisions that shape their lives.
When women can participate, lead and speak without being pushed to the margins.

Peace is built in the choices we make long before conflict begins.

On this International Day of Peace, we are called to “Invest in Peace - For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”

Because peace is not simply something to celebrate. It is something to practise, protect and make room for every day.

Peace is a process. And everyone has a part in it.

Our movement extends far beyond a few names. This week, we're shining the light on the broader ecosystem that makes our work possible. We are proud to partner with the Climate Justice Creative Cultures and Community for Peace, Society for International Relations Awareness (SIRA), ISEA - Initiative for Socioeconomic and Ecological Advancement , National Women Platform on Security Sector Reforms & Governance , and Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution Each of these collaborations deepens our work at the intersections of climate, peace, gender, and socioecological justice. Together, we're building a movement that leaves no one behind.

YouPaD participated in a stakeholders’ workshop on Industrial Livestock Farming held in Abuja on 2 September 2026.

The workshop organised by the Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF) and Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria. (ERA) , in collaboration with Youth in Agroecology and Restoration Network (YARN) and HEDA Resource Centre , brought together civil society organisations, farmers, environmental advocates and other stakeholders to examine the proposed US$2.5 billion JBS investment in Nigeria.

Discussions considered the possible implications of industrial-scale livestock production for smallholder farmers, pastoralists, host communities, land, water, livelihoods, public health and the environment.

Participants also explored sustainable alternatives, including agroecology, regenerative agriculture, integrated crop-livestock systems, climate-smart livestock production, circular approaches and greater investment in local food systems.

A key message from the engagement was the need for transparency, strong environmental and social safeguards, meaningful community participation and policies that protect local livelihoods while supporting sustainable development.

YouPaD remains committed to ensuring that young people have a voice in important policy and development conversations affecting Nigeria’s future.

For coastal and resource-dependent communities, this isn't an abstract debate; it's about their daily reality. Together, we're pushing back against extractive practices, promoting sustainable fisheries, and ensuring that livelihoods are not sacrificed in the name of conservation. No one is left behind. Reflecting on International Youth Day 2026 and the conversations around youth priorities in Nigeria.
YouPaD participated in the Youth Pulse Dialogue: Nigerian Youth at the Heart of National Development, hosted by the Youth Advisory Committee to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abuja.
We appreciate the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Youth Advisory Committee for the invitation and opportunity to contribute to the panel discussion, “From Evidence to Impact: Advancing Youth Priorities through Policy and Development Partnerships.”
The dialogue explored youth priorities emerging from the Youth Pulse Survey, including jobs and skills, education, migration, food security, safety and governance.
The conversation reinforced a key message: youth participation must go beyond consultation, while evidence must translate into policy, programmes and action.
