As part of their primary assignment in the national assembly to investigate the theft activities and revenue generation from the oil and gas sector, Rt Hon. (Amb) James S. Barka member Representing the good people of Gombi/Hong at the national assembly alongside with other Honourable members colleagues of Adhoc committee on Crude oil theft, today 13th Sept, 2023 had a meeting with the New chief of Naval staff at the newly naval headquarters Abuja.
The Adhoc committee were in the Naval Headquarters on fact finding And investigation of oil theft and loss of revenue from the sector.

Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has taken action in response to recent canoe accidents in the state by directing the enforcement of regulations on inland waterways commercial transportation. The Governor issued this directive while visiting the Gurin community to offer condolences for a boat mishap that resulted in casualties. Another similar accident had occurred a few days prior in Yola South.

Governor Fintiri has called for immediate action by relevant government agencies to enforce these regulations, emphasizing the need to prevent overloading for the safety of passengers. He also announced plans to provide life jackets to boat passengers at crossing points to reduce the risk of casualties during accidents.

Additionally, the Governor warned residents against traveling on waterways during rainy conditions and stressed that the government will no longer tolerate lax attitudes towards safety in this regard. The traditional institutions and local government authorities were urged to ensure strict compliance with the regulations.

The District Head of Gurin expressed gratitude for the Governor's visit and pledged support from the traditional institution for government policies. Authorities have confirmed the recent boat mishap resulted from strong winds and tidal waves, with 2 casualties, 12 rescued individuals, and others still missing.

According to the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s approval, the airline would operate international flights to United States of America, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Italy, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
