Layman’s term for Refining Crude Oil and the use of A-NORT’s Technology for adding value to Refinery Bottoms, Heavy Oil, and Bitumen.
Crude oil is a mixture of gases such as nitrogen, oxygen.
Crude oil also contains inorganic substances such as sulphur and metals like nickel, vanadium, lithium, and phosphorous.
Crude oil also contains organic materials called hydrocarbons
Typically, there are 2 types of hydrocarbons in crude oil
The types of hydrocarbons in crude oil are (i) Aromatic, and (ii) Aliphatic hydrocarbons
In order to separate the components of Crude oil, a process called Distillation is used
During distillation, heat is applied to the vessel containing the crude oil.
As the oil is heated, the gases and light components of the oil are condensed and collected at specified temperatures.
Some of the oxygen gas in the oil react with the metals present in the oil to form metal oxides while some of the oxygen react with the carbon components to form carbon dioxide gas
The components that are slightly denser or heavier than the light components are heated and collected at higher temperatures.
These products are called Middle Distillates.
After the Middle Distillates are collected, the residual oil in the distillation system are called Heavy Fractions or Residual Fluids which require very high Temperatures and Pressures to recover them from the distillation vessel.
That process requires very expensive catalysts for the reaction to take place in V***r or Gaseous phase
It is during this phase of the distillation process that carbon dioxide {CO2} and Green House Gases {GHG} are formed and escape into the atmosphere to cause environmental degradation.
Since our B2U Process occurs in the liquid phase and not v***r phase the CO2 gas that forms reacts with the metal oxide to form a Metal Carbonate which is an Inorganic solid that instantly separates from the organic oil solution.
There is therefore NO Chance of any CO2 escaping from the system to cause any Environmental Damage.
This is a Unique REVOLUTIONARY PROCESS for Heavy Oil, Bitumen and Refinery Bottoms Upgrading that has been developed and patented by me - Frederick Boakye, an AFRICAN OF GHANAIAN Origin.
This process is simple, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly and causes no bottlenecks in any refinery.
The process is suitable for application in any Atmospheric Refinery in the World.
