Celebrating a transformational Milestone for Women Entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
We are excited to announce the successful completion of the Women Investment Readiness Accelerator (WIRA) program demo day, funded by Agence Française de Développement and the Development Bank of Nigeria Plc and implemented by Sterling One Foundation in partnership with Venture Lab as the technical lead.
Over the past weeks, 100 exceptional women entrepreneurs went through a rigorous acceleration journey. Their resilience, innovation, and commitment have been nothing short of inspiring.

Impact Highlights:
At program inception, only 7% of participants were investment ready.
Today, an Outstanding 48 women (48%) have completed all investment readiness requirements.
That’s a 586% increase in investment readiness, a powerful shift that strengthens women's access to finance and complements existing national frameworks for women-led enterprises.
This achievement is more than numbers, it is about unlocking opportunities, breaking barriers, and enabling women founders to scale, grow, and lead with confidence.

A heartfelt appreciation to our brilliant mentors who volunteered their time, experience, and wisdom:
Gbite Oduneye, Mope Abudu, Nyeji Mhango (née Chilembo), Ezinne Nwokafor, Idowu Akinde, your contributions shaped the trajectory of these businesses.
Special appreciation to our exceptional CEO, Prince Ogbonna, whose deep technical insight and visionary leadership steered this program to excellence.
Thank you to the incredible team at Sterling One Foundation, thank you for your unwavering support and partnership throughout this journey.
And to all 100 women who participated, thank you for trusting the process, showing up fully, and demonstrating what is possible when women are empowered with the right tools and platforms. We are excited to continue supporting your scaling journey at Moolu Venture Lab.
The success of WIRA is a strong reminder that when we invest in women, we invest in sustainable economic growth, stronger communities, and a more inclusive future
Onwards and upwards.

Only 2% of research outputs in Nigeria makes it to market, we’re changing that.
At Moolu Venture Lab, we’re proud to serve as the Lead Consultant in developing Nigeria’s first Research-to-Commercialization (R2C) Toolkit, a landmark initiative designed to bridge the gap between groundbreaking research outputs and market-ready innovation.
The R2C toolkit Validation Workshop, held in Lagos under the leadership of the Impact Investors Foundation (IIF) through NIIRIC, marked a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem and in collaboration with major stakeholders in Nigeria inclusive of Nigeria Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology Innovation Roadmap NSITR 2030, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), members of the RICC committee and other stakeholders.
Guided by our CEO, Prince Ogbonna, the toolkit was co-created with experts across academia, government, and industry, transforming systemic bottlenecks into actionable pathways for commercialization.
We extend our profound gratitude to the leadership of Impact Investors Foundation (IIF) — the CEO, Etemore Glover - (MBA) for her impeccable drive to revolutionize the research to commercialization landscape in Nigeria, COO Chizoba Ada Emmanuel-Awakessien, MCIPMN for her support in coordinating several stakeholders, and the NIIRIC Program Manager Kingsley Godwin FIMC, CMC for his foresight and relentless drive for research and innovation impact in Nigeria— for their unwavering dedication to advancing Nigeria’s research and innovation agenda. Moolu Venture Capital LP and Moolu Venture Lab participated in the Innovation Fair 2025 in Brussels, represented by Prince Ogbonna , Managing Partner and CEO. The event, themed “Enabling that Step Forward,” served as a major continental convergence for innovation actors; startups, SMEs, research institutions, and policymakers, driving the AU–EU Innovation Agenda (2023–2033) and the Union for the Mediterranean’s R&I Roadmaps.

The fair featured pitch sessions, exhibitions, and strategic networking engagements, with over 500 participants joining both onsite and online. Moolu’s presence at the Africa–Europe Innovation Platform (AIEP) session, “Bridging Continents through Innovation,” underscored its commitment to deepening cross-continental collaboration between Africa and Europe, connecting innovators, academia, investors, and policymakers to co-create solutions that unlocked shared economic and social opportunities.

A key highlight was participation in the AU-EU Science Diplomacy Dialogue, a milestone conversation on aligning scientific collaboration and diplomatic frameworks to accelerate sustainable innovation across both continents.

For Moolu Venture Capital and Moolu Venture Lab, this engagement was more than just representation; it reinforced their ecosystem mandate to connect African innovation pipelines to global markets, facilitate access to impact-driven financing, and embed research-led, inclusive, and sustainable innovation in Africa’s startup ecosystem.

This participation aligned with Moolu’s broader objective of serving as a bridge between local innovation ecosystems and global opportunity networks, fostering growth, technology transfer, and responsible investment models that strengthened Africa’s position within the global innovation value chain.

Many thanks to all stakeholders who put the great event together, including the amiable Vincenzo Lorusso, Nienke Buisman, Brando Okolo, Ahmed Maalel, Euraxess Africa, and many other partners and friends connected.

We are thrilled that our Chief Executive Officer, Prince Ogbonna, was invited by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) to present a lecture paper on “Mapping Nigeria's Raw Material Diversity: Geospatial Analysis and Resource Distribution.”

In the presence of the DG and senior directors of the council, Prince delivered an engaging session that explored Nigeria’s mineral and agricultural resources through the lens of Geospatial Technologies and Artificial Intelligence. It was mind-blowing to see how much potential in resources was yet to be explored in Nigeria. Africa is indeed an endowed continent.

Key takeaway: Nigeria’s untapped mineral potential was valued at over $700 billion, a massive opportunity for economic diversification, industrial growth, and sustainable revenue generation beyond oil. Geospatial Technologies and Artificial Intelligence offered transformational opportunities for sector advancement.

At Moolu Venture Lab, we saw our role as an innovation support organization to inspire institutions that manage and coordinate Nigeria’s critical resources. It was encouraging to witness government leaders demonstrating a genuine hunger for growth and knowledge.

A big thank you to Prof. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso for the kind invitation, and we looked forward to making an impact together.

Exciting times at GITEX Nigeria!
Our Managing Partner, Prince Ogbonna, alongside some team members from Moolu Venture Capital LP and Moolu Venture Lab, joined ecosystem leaders and policymakers to engage in bold conversations on the future of AI in Nigeria during the Government Leadership & AI Summit at GITEX Nigeria – The Largest Tech & Startup Event in West Africa.

At Moolu, we believed the impact of AI is still understated, and its potential for Nigeria is far under-estimated. Constructive engagement across stakeholders is urgent to ensure AI adoption is ethical, inclusive, and locally relevant. Earlier this year, Prince authored the National Generative AI Policy for Inclusive Innovation: Nigeria 2025-2030, a policy framework proposition for safe and impactful GenAI adoption in startups and public services. Find here: https://lnkd.in/dSp9-dDz

We deeply appreciated all stakeholders pushing this dialogue forward, and it was a delight reconnecting with:
Lavina Ramkissoon (AU Ambassador on Innovation)
Massimo De Luca (European Commission)
Marléna Hager (Business Sweden)
Olapeju Ibekwe (CEO, Sterling One Foundation)
Abraham Durosawo (VP, Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority)
Victória Becker (U.S. Trade and Development Agency - USTDA)
Elsie Attafuah (Resident Representative, UNDP)
Fredrik Åhsberg (Embassy of Sweden)
Victoria Fabunmi (ACS, ACSI National Coordinator, ONDI Nigeria)
Obi Asika (DG, National Council for Arts and Culture - NCAC)
Iffat Mahmud (Regional Rep at Innovision Consulting)
Abel Ovenseri, Ph.D. (LAPO Microfinance)

Together, we must scale AI’s impact across sectors, from policy to practice, to unlock Nigeria’s true potential. Much appreciation to Jonathan Paulson of Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTC) and Gbite Oduneye of ODBA for supporting this initiative.

It was an honor to speak at the Deep Tech Summit at UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in 2025, an event that truly exceeded expectations in every dimension.

Prior to arriving in Morocco, I had a thoughtful conversation with Ajibola Odukoya, COO of AfriLabs, regarding the current landscape of innovation across Africa. Our discussion highlighted both the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for the continent's tech ecosystem.

Representing both AfriLabs MOOLU Venture Capital LP and Moolu Venture Lab during the summit in various capacities, I was consistently impressed by the caliber of programming and discourse. UM6P and the DTS organizing team delivered an exceptional experience, convening some of the most influential minds in deep tech from across the globe. The conversations were substantive and focused on creating tangible impact for Africa and beyond. Much credit goes to Yassine Laghzioui, CEO of UM6P Ventures and chief convener of DTS 2025, whose vision and leadership were evident throughout.

The summit provided valuable opportunities to reconnect with industry colleagues and forge new relationships. I was particularly pleased to meet AU Ambassador in Innovation, Lavina Ramkissoon, in person, and had fruitful conversations on moving the continent forward. I also engaged in meaningful discussions with Dr. Bienvenu Comlan Agbokponto Soglo, Ph.D., Director of Government Affairs at Intel Corporation.

The venture capital community was well represented, with insightful exchanges alongside Driss Laraki, Omar Sayegrih, Mark Kleyner, and Thaheer Mullins. I also valued connecting with quantum computing expert André M. König and celebrating with Marwan Berrada-Sounni on their impressive $25M fund 1 closing.

A highlight was conducting a fireside chat with Hajar Boushab on AI talents in Africa and the funding landscape for them. I also had the opportunity to do a speed mentorship with 6 PhD and master’s students on deep learning frameworks. I extend my sincere appreciation to the organizers, speakers, and all participants who contributed to this landmark event.

The conversations are not going away soon. I’m looking forward to continued collaboration as we advance innovation across Africa. Special thanks to Lamiaa El Amrani, Valentin Marin, Mariam Ramadam, Muez Ali, Karima Omar, Najoua Labjar, Sabria Lagoun, Jinane Abounadi (MIT), Ikram Labtaini, Jongkil Lee, Naouel Hanani, Lofred Madzou, Ilias Benjelloun, Faten Aissi, Prasanth K., Maryem Barrit, Amina Lahbabi, Ph.D., Fay Cowper, Salma Bouaissi, Stephanie Herrmann.

Strengthening Africa-Europe Startup Synergies!
The Pilot Soft-Landing Program for Market Access between Nigerian and Portuguese startups was a powerful step forward in the AU-EU cooperation through the SEADE Initiative. Five startups were onboarded across both continents.

Through this pilot, we facilitated knowledge exchange, mutual market understanding, and built a bridge for startup expansion between Africa and Europe via a strategic collaboration between Moolu Venture Lab and Instituto Politécnico Nacional Portugal—an institution with 25+ years of experience in innovation commercialization. This initiative was designed to facilitate market access between scaleups in Portugal (Europe) and Nigeria (Africa), providing:
• Soft-Landing & Market Expansion Support
• Financial Access & Government Subsidies
• Pathways to Securing Permanent Residency
• Business Integration & Investment Opportunities
This effort aligned with the AU-EU cooperation and SEADE initiatives, fostering deeper Africa-Europe business collaborations.

A big thank you to our incredible partners at Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) Portugal and the team at Moolu Venture Lab, Nigeria, for championing this collaboration. Together, we are:
• Appreciating market entry barriers
• Co-developing soft-landing strategies
• Fostering innovation-led ecosystems on both continents
As we continue to build this transcontinental link, we are confident that this initiative would set the tone for even greater cross-border startup cooperation and investment.

Moolu Venture Lab was honored to represent the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the prestigious iHatch Program - an initiative designed to upskill hub owners and managers from across Nigeria’s 36 states.
The in-person residency program kicked off in grand style with an insightful keynote from the Honorable Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani. His thought-provoking session on Technological Innovation and Economic Growth was deeply inspired by his PhD research on National Innovation Systems. He took participants through his journey in establishing Africa’s most successful hub Co-creation HUB (CcHUB) Limited (RC 918335), providing practical insights into ecosystem building and sustainable innovation.
The week-long program was packed with value, featuring top industry experts and innovation leaders, including Akinwande Akinsulire, Nissi Madu, and others from CcHub, who guided us through critical topics such as:
Support
• Human-Centered Design for Innovation
• Designing and Running Incubation & Accelerator Programs
• Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Measurement for Hubs

In addition, we had immersive hub visits to Ventures Platform Fund Parks and Cleantech Hub in Abuja, gaining firsthand insights into how these hubs foster entrepreneurship, technology adoption, and investment readiness.

The week concluded with an engaging session with the DG of NITDA Nigeria Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, who shared the vision behind the iHatch program.

A key highlight was a collective of hub owners whose delegation visited the NITDA Nigeria HQ for a closed-door meeting with the DG, where our founder Prince Ogbonna actively contributed to a National Innovation Systems Mapping initiative, shaping a strategic roadmap for Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem while discussing how government can continue to support innovation across the country.

A Big Thank You! This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated efforts of The National Coordinator of ONDI Nigeria, Victoria Fabunmi, ACS, ACSI, Dr Odiong Akpan, the Team, Kristin H. Wilson, Princess O. Edokpayi, and many others who worked tirelessly to bring this program to life.
This is truly the beginning of a new era for the innovation space in Nigeria.
