When I was younger, I struggled with low self-esteem. This really helped. So if you are uncertain about how to change your outlook on life— I've found two game-changing solutions that are inexpensive and incredibly effective – subliminal messages and uplifting music!

As someone who's personally benefited from this technique, I highly recommend giving it a try. Subliminal messages involve surrounding yourself with positive affirmations that rewire your brain with empowering thoughts.

Here's how it works:

1. Use free software (available online) to flash positive affirmations on your computer screen for microseconds.

2. Or you can place sticky 📝 notes with uplifting messages around your environment.

3. Read out loud these affirmations to yourself throughout the day.

I also find that music has a profound impact on our minds and emotions. Uplifting songs can:

- Inspire breakthroughs
- Boost confidence
- Enhance your mood
- Reduce stress

So create a morning playlist that sets you up to win.

One key skill of transformational leaders is their ability to adapt their communication style to mirror and match the worldview of who they are speaking with.

This can be learned with coaching and practice.

The great business people and politicians know how to get along with others to get what they want without causing a fight.

Communication skills can be learnt. Training delegates say I do a tremendous job at teaching this skill to leaders, both young and old.

SOME SOCIAL RULES THAT MAY HELP YOU:

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to;

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the other person remembers lending it to you. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes;

3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is giving you a lunch/dinner. If possible ask them to order their choice of food for you;

4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids’ or ‘Why didn’t you buy a house?’ Or why don't you buy a car? For God’s sake it isn’t your problem;

5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public;

6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time;

7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember what's 6 to you will appear 9 to someone facing you. Besides, second opinion is good for an alternative;

8. Never interrupt people talking. Allow them to pour it out. As they say, hear them all and filter them all;

9. If you tease someone, and they don’t seem to enjoy it, stop it and never do it again. It encourages one to do more and it shows how appreciative you're;

10. Say “thank you” when someone is helping you.

11. Praise publicly. Criticize privately;

12. There’s almost never a reason to comment on someone’s weight. Just say, “You look fantastic.” If they want to talk about losing weight, they will;

13. When someone shows you a photo on their phone, don’t swipe left or right. You never know what’s next;

14. If a colleague tells you they have a doctors' appointment, don’t ask what it’s for, just say "I hope you’re okay". Don’t put them in the uncomfortable position of having to tell you their personal illness. If they want you to know, they'll do so without your inquisitiveness;

15. Treat the cleaner with the same respect as the CEO. Nobody is impressed at how rude you can treat someone below you but people will notice if you treat them with respect;

16. If a person is speaking directly to you, staring at your phone is rude;

17. Never give advice until you’re asked;

18. When meeting someone after a long time, unless they want to talk about it, don’t ask them their age and salary;

19. Mind your business unless anything involves you directly - just stay out of it;

20. Remove your sunglasses if you are talking to anyone in the street. It is a sign of respect. Moreso, eye contact is as important as your speech; and

21. Never talk about your riches in the midst of the poor. Similarly, don't talk about your children in the midst of the barren.

I HOPE IT HELPS.

You could use Google to gather new information and ideas.

But dont use it when it's insight and wisdom you need. These are two different things.

You should use Google to shore up your knowledge. And you should also know whom to ask for guidance to decide and choose the many options your search result will find.

The Google search results can provide 10,000 possible answers but you my friend, have a small budget and can't ho out trying out every thing.

On Wednesday back at the office, we had tried calling one of our associates several times to request for his updated personal profile for a training proposal I was putting together.

There was no response or call back on his end. Admittedly we were considerably upset as we imagined that he should know that we were not calling him this incessantly wasn't just to say "hello".

On Thursday we called again 3 more times, still no answer. We were tempted to call for an alternative, but this guy is really good at his craft.

So later around 5:30p.m on my way home from work, our M.D get a phone call from a strange number. The man introduces himself as a younger brother to Emmanuel Usman.

He proceeds to inform him that our associate, Emmanuel Usman, had passed away on the 18th of September and has since been buried. He died of hypertension.

Our M.D was driving when that call came in and for the next 5 minutes his head went blank and he was driving on auto-pilot and headed straight home instead of first stopping by Granny Murray School school for pick-up.

It was quite a shocker and a rude awakening.

3 lessons learnt:

1. Check your vitals regularly and manage your health. Take your prescribed medications regularly!

2. At the point of death, everyone is replaceable. Life and Death doesn't follow protocol.

3a. Don't get mad when the other person doesn't pick up your call; you have no idea what may be going on. Do stay in touch more often!

3b. Picking up the phone when driving can be dangerous as you have no idea what message you may receive.

Rest in peace Emmanuel Usman. We hope you are in a happy place.

What if some cyber-terrorist designs a bug that resets all banking passwords to zero. Would you survive?

What if, your warehouse should catch fire, how soon will you rebound?

What if a key member of staff should take ill, depart or worse yet die, how soon can his work load be transferred to someone else?

These are issues on HAZID/HAZOP WHAT IF course we recently concluded with staff of the NNPC.

Here is a cross-section of delegates and feedback received.

Once Stalin of Soviet Union, came to a meeting with a live chicken.

He started to pluck its feathers one by one off.

The chicken quacked in pain, blood oozing from its pores.

It gave out heart-breaking cries but Stalin continued without remorse plucking feather after feather until the chicken was completely naked.

After that, he threw the chicken on the ground and from his pockets, took out some chicken feed and started to throw it at the poor creature.

It started eating and as he walked away, the chicken followed him and sat at his feet feeding from his hand.

Stalin then told members of his party:

"This chicken represents the people, you must disempower them, brutalise them, beat them up and leave them. If you do this and then give them peanuts when they are in that helpless and desperate situation, they will blindly follow you for the rest of their life. They will think you are a hero forever. They will forget that, it is you who brought them to that situation in the first place."

Does this sound familiar?

Think twice as 2019 is approaching

Are you a chicken?
