The Power of a Sponsor in Your Journey
As a talented person with skills for a thriving business or career, one prayer you should never stop praying is: “God, align me with the right sponsors.”
Talent alone is not always enough; there are billions of people who are more skilled than you, yet many remain unseen because they lack a sponsor.
A sponsor is someone who believes in you and is willing to open doors you could never reach on your own. They could be an investor, a mentor, or even just someone who mentions your name in the right rooms, but their impact can shift the entire course of your life.
If you read the Bible, like I love to (brags in christ 😂), you’ll see how God consistently placed sponsors in the lives of great men and women; some examples below;
Moses had Pharaoh’s daughter; she took him in, raised him, and gave him access to royalty.
David had King Saul; Saul brought him into the palace and positioned him for kingship.
Joseph had Pharaoh’s cupbearer, and he mentioned Joseph’s name at the right time, leading to his promotion to Egypt.
Ruth had Boaz; he provided security, favour, and restoration for her future.
Nehemiah had a Sponsor; it was King Artaxerxes
Nehemiah had the vision to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, but it was King Artaxerxes who provided the resources, authority, and protection to accomplish it.
Esther had Mordecai; he guided her, positioned her in the palace, and gave her wisdom to fulfil her destiny.
Paul had Barnabas; Barnabas introduced Paul to the apostles and vouched for his ministry.
But beyond praying for sponsors and accessing them, also pray for wisdom to manage them well.
Sponsorship is not just about access; it’s about sustainability and how you manage it, determining if the following sponsor for the next phase of your life will turn up.
Some people receive sponsorship but mishandle the relationships, missing out on long-term success.
I am deeply grateful for the sponsors God has placed in my life at every stage.
And one day, may I also sponsor someone else, holding their hands and guiding them to their own promised land.
May God send the right sponsors your way. And when they come, may you have the wisdom to steward those relationships well. 🙏🏾
