Manure is the organic matter added to the soil to replenish it with nutrients . Manure is prepared by the process of decomposing wastes from household, animal dung and agricultural wastes buried in small pits. Decomposition by bacteria and earthworms occurs in these pits converting organic wastes into manure. Manure increases the water retention capacity of soil. Manure does not show any toxicity to the soil.

Fertilizers are chemical substances added to the soil to increase soil fertility. They are specific in adding minerals like potassium, phosphorus and nitrates to the soil.
