I have had people come to me to tell me that they want to start selling perfume oil but their capital is too small and they have no target audience on who to sell to.
*Let me give you a brief story of how I started Commytekscent on 6th November 2020.*
I had no money to start and so I met with friends and family members who turned me down, saying that we just left covid 19 and so people are hungry, that it'll be a bad idea to start perfume business at that point.
They encouraged me to go into foodstuffs business because that was the business nobody will experience difficulty in making sales from as a beginner.
Now in my head, I knew when I prayed for business direction, I knew I heard, "start selling designers perfume oils", even when I didn't know who to buy from as at then. But I knew that voice was not my own voice, and I had learnt painfully from my previous mistakes to follow spiritual directions.
I ignored all their rejections and discouragement and anybody I met then, the first thing after pleasantries will be me telling them that, I want to start selling perfume oils, but I don't have the capital to do so. I will ask them, can you borrow me?
Well, I finally got a friend who borrowed me 35k. This was a distant friend I had never met before but he knew how I used to be serious with online networking back then in 2017 down to 2019 before covid and other life challenges happened.
He gave me 35k and said I should use 10k for feeding and other things and use 25k to start the business.
Since I was starting with 25k, first thing I did was to think big and I looked at 25k like 250k. I look at my house like the shop I needed and quickly I entered the market to purchase the products
I drafted out the price lists in different packages, I created a group and started posting on my Facebook profile, my WhatsApp status and everywhere on popular pages on the Internet, etc.
I was rugged in my ads and I crowned myself as a legit supplier that you could trust.
I didn't tell my customers then that I started the business with 25k. I made them believe that I had the capacity to handle their request.
I was bold to give my house address and even do video calls for those who where skeptical about being sca..mmed.
I started selling immediately I introduced the product to the online market. Everyday I made sales, I traveled back to the market, sometimes I'll get home by 11pm, I'll eat, bath and start packaging the perfumes immediately.
Sometimes I'll package till 2am and sleep till 5:30 am, I'll wake up, and make sure I'm out of the house by 6am to deliver the goods at the park, then I'll eat from the mama put in the park, then travel to the market again which was the next state from Abuja.
I did this over and over again, my customers didn't know how I was almost sleeping on the road daily to give them quick deliveries.
It was a new business, so I needed to build trust and transparency. If I said I could deliver at so so and so time, I needed to prove it so that they can trust me for more.
Then I moved to the group and told those customers who bought that they could be my distributor in their location. Just add your own profit and when we run ads on Facebook or Instagram, if customers from your location are scared of buying from us, we could link them to you. But you would not depend on our ads for sales. Because your own patronage as a distributor will determine how long you'll be with us. They agreed and I set the rules, now it was time to run ads and I couldn't afford to pay for the ads. I had been depending on sales I got from posting on my timeline, Instagram pages, WhatsApp status, etc. non was a paid ad till I decided to make that move so that our sales will upgrade.
Remember from the business of 25k, I was paying transportation and eating and running up and down plus other bills as a woman, I couldn't touch the profit for anything because I just started building.
I went back to that my friend and told him to please borrow me 20k so that I could run ads for the business.
He borrowed me 20k. And I spent that 20k for the first month in running paid ads, but I couldn't achieve a single sale. All I got where enquiries and those who never responded again after sending messages.
I was not discouraged, I went again to tell him to borrow another 20k to me because I'll keep running the ads till I meet my target audience. I was very positive that I'll meet my target audience soon. Fortunately, on the 2nd month I started selling and I paid off everything I borrowed from him.
The rest has been history today.
We started commytekscent with just about 10pcs of 50ml perfumes, about 10-20 dozens of 3ml, 5 dozens of 6ml and 1 dozen of 10ml rollon.
That first 3 months I started was when I borrowed littles monies that I paid back in full. Since then, I have ran the business from the turnover I get from this business. No business loans, no bank loans, no family loans, it's been from God's favour and grace only.
Now what made me succeed wasn't because I received a message to go into this business, but it was my mindset about myself.
The people who never believed or supported this business didn't influence me to also create doubt in myself or in the business.
I wasn't looking for the perfect opportunity to start laying out my plans for the business, the perfect timing was immediately I started and how I projected the business was what matters.
I noticed that people who bought from me sold off immediately and I knew my hands where favoured, and so I decided to take advantage of that Grace and work harder.
I noticed that I had a good product that brought back more than 75% positive reviews, returning customers, referrals etc, so I remained with the company I started with and built my tent of greatness with them.
I didn't have a shop when I started, I have never added another product since I started, I have focused on one supplier, I have focused on one product, I have focused on my goals and I have achieved a whole lot.
I worked each day like the world was ending the next day.
I worked as if I had a boss who was going to sack me if my performance was low,
I worked as if my life depended on selling perfumes
I cut down on my bills and spending limit to build my business to a level before I started bringing out money from it.
Me and you may not carry the same grace, but me and you share the same opportunity to succeed if you follow the right process.
If you follow the principles of wealth creation, you'll never lack money in life.
I have achieved what took others 20yrs to achieve under the space of 5yrs plus because I refused to listed to noise and decided to channel my positive energy in growing this business.
If I could do it, you too can do it. But you need to have this radical belief and don't listen to the noise. FOCUS!!!
I am lucky to achieve great things in life on time because I listened to the spiritual command.
Some of us have been told to start selling perfume oils, but perfume oils is one of the businesses that many people look down on so much, so we are seeking the validation of others before we can start.
Some of us have started but we have never advertised the business on our social media handles because we are ashamed of what our friends, family, colleagues or classmates will say about the business.
That mentality will only lead you to a life of mockery because nobody wants to be associated with failure, but everyone wants to be associated with success at the long run.
Shut down the voices, the negative voices in your head reminding you of the irrelevant position you occupy in the society without financial stability to be proud of, shut down that self importance pride that deprives you from hustling as if you know nobody to achieve wealth.
Last 5yrs plus I couldn't afford 25k to start a business,
Now we sell atleast 50m naira monthly from the same business. Can you beat the large margin from working hard and focusing on one particular product?
No loans, no financial assistance, but we reached this height because we worked hard for it.
If I could do it, you too can do it. You have the ability to get to that level.
First of all, recognize the product, go for it, put in your all and see the miracle happen with time.
Perfume business is the new oil well. But I have coached people directly or indirectly who left the place of coaching to look for the blessings elsewhere and till today they've not understood why they're not seeing good results.
Business is spiritual. The person who was instructed to start a business spiritually is spiritually backed up and will do better than a person who just entered a business because they felt it was a good business.
Before I ventured into this business, I had done businesses that I never prayed about for and those businesses, though very good but never took me to any length aside solving basic human needs.
If your goal is to be successful, then you'll not end in only solving your basic needs.
This is the first business I ventured into that introduced me fully into the millionaire world and survived all attacks thrown at it because I followed spiritual instructions to go into it.
This business have birthed millionaires who had similar stories of not having capital before they started.
So many people are not feeling the heat of the economy today because of this business.
I'll encourage you to add this to your consideration list of business you might want to go into, and then prayerfully you'll be led if this is worth it or not.
