GOVERNOR MUTFWANG VISITS MINISTER OF WORKS OVER DUALIZATION OF AKWANGA–JOS ROAD

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, led a delegation of prominent sons of the state on a strategic visit to the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, to press for the urgent dualization of the Akwanga–Jos Road.

Governor Mutfwang explained that the Akwanga–Jos Road is a critical federal highway that serves as the main gateway into Plateau State and plays a vital role in linking the North Central region with other parts of the country. He noted that the road is central to commerce, mobility, and regional integration.

The Governor noted that the present condition of the road poses serious safety risks, impedes economic activities, and undermines the smooth movement of people and goods. He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for adopting the Akwanga–Jos Road as one of his legacy projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Mutfwang further highlighted the immense benefits of the project, including enhanced security, reduced travel time, increased trade, and accelerated socio-economic development for Plateau State and neighbouring states.

He added that the people of Plateau State would be deeply grateful if the dualization of the road is accorded priority in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.

Responding, the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, warmly welcomed the Governor and commended him for aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC). He assured him of the Federal Government’s commitment to the signing and commencement of the dualization of the Akwanga–Jos Road project.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG JOINS GEN. TY DANJUMA, PROF. JERRY GANA, OTHERS AT AN EVENING OF TRIBUTE IN HONOUR OF PROF. DAVID ADAMU BAIKIE

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has joined General T. Y Danjuma, numerous well-wishers and admirers in paying glowing tribute to the late renowned academic and educational icon, Prof. David Adamu Baikie, whose immeasurable contributions to the education sector remain a pillar of inspiration to generations.

Delivering his tribute on Thursday at the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre, Abuja, Governor Mutfwang noted that although he did not have a close personal relationship with the late Prof. Baikie, his biography revealed a life of remarkable impact. He observed that the erudite professor nurtured, groomed, and raised numerous leaders who are today serving the nation in various capacities.

The Governor described Prof. Baikie as a towering intellectual whose life was devoted to the pursuit of knowledge, character formation, and the mentoring of generations of leaders across diverse disciplines. He stated that Prof. Baikie’s commitment to education was not merely professional but deeply personal, driven by an unwavering belief that learning remains the surest pathway to individual empowerment and national development.

Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to Gen. T. Y. Danjuma (Rtd) for the invitation to the event and urged like-minded individuals and institutions to ensure that the legacies and ideals of the late scholar continue to live on within and beyond the academic community.

In his remarks, former Minister of Defence, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, described Prof. Adamu Baikie as a giant in the education sector who lived a life of purpose, marked by integrity, academic excellence, and profound wisdom.
