"We need a private-public partnership health accelerator that will drive whole-of-society progress towards the SDGs through sustainable high-value investments.” - Duma Boko, Chair, African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA)

As the demands on health systems continue to evolve, sustainable progress will require more than policy commitments alone.

Strengthening health outcomes across Africa will increasingly depend on strategic collaboration, long-term investment, and the collective capacity of governments, institutions, and the private sector to drive large-scale change.

Africa’s story has always been one of movement from unity to resilience to the continuous pursuit of a better quality of life for its people.

As we mark Africa Day, we are reminded that it is not only a reflection of history but also a call to action for the present and the future. Established through the formation of the Organization of African Unity and now carried forward by the African Union, Africa’s shared vision continues to evolve through the ambitions of Agenda 2063.

This year’s theme, “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” brings that vision into sharp focus. Because development is not abstract; it is lived daily in access to clean water, in safe sanitation systems, and in the dignity these essentials provide to communities across the continent.

When water systems are sustainable and sanitation is safe, health outcomes improve, education is strengthened, and communities are better positioned to thrive. This is where vision becomes reality.

At DUCIT BLUE SOLUTIONS, we remain committed to advancing this reality, supporting solutions that are community-centered, evidence-informed, and grounded in the belief that sustainable progress is built through collaboration and shared responsibility.

"In truth, health is the engine of productivity and the bedrock of inclusive growth.” - John Dramani Mahama (2025)

At a time when nations are under increasing pressure to drive economic resilience and inclusive development, this statement places health where it truly belongs, at the centre of national transformation.

The strength of a country’s workforce, productivity, and long-term prosperity will increasingly depend on the ability of its health systems to respond, adapt, and sustain human potential at scale.

You feel fine.
You’re working.
You’re meeting deadlines.
You’re showing up every day.

But what if your blood pressure is rising silently?

Hypertension rarely announces itself early. No warning signs. No dramatic symptoms. Many people only discover it after serious complications such as stroke, heart disease, kidney failure, or other life-threatening conditions have already developed.

In Nigeria, more than 1 in 3 adults are living with hypertension and many do not know they have it.

This World Hypertension Day, we’re asking one simple question:

When was the last time you checked your blood pressure?

👇 Tell us honestly:
• This month
• This year
• I can’t remember
• Never

Your answer might encourage someone else to take their health seriously.

Know your numbers. Protect your future.

Nurses are often the first point of care, the constant presence at the bedside, and a critical force behind patient survival.

Across Nigeria, thousands continue to leave the healthcare system in search of safer working conditions, fair compensation, and stronger opportunities for professional growth, deepening workforce shortages in a system already under strain.

With over 15,000 nurses leaving in 2023 alone and more than 42,000 departing between 2021 and 2024, the conversation must move beyond appreciation and address the structural gaps driving this exodus.

This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”is a reminder that empowerment extends beyond recognition. It requires safer workplaces, fair pay, professional development, and policies that enable nurses to thrive.
