NMEP, Lagos State and Partners Launch LSM Macro-Planning Activities.
The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and key partners, officially launched the Larval Source Management (LSM) Macro-Planning Activities under the IMPACT Project at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Alausa.
The inaugural meeting brought together representatives from key line ministries, the World Health Organization (WHO), security agencies, academia, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration for the successful implementation of the intervention.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Dayo Olajide, reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to evidence-based malaria interventions. She called for sustained collaboration, timely implementation, and community ownership to ensure the success and sustainability of the initiative.
Delivering a technical presentation, Head of the Programme Management Branch, NMEP Dr. Aminu Umar, provided an overview of the LSM macro-planning process, highlighting the implementation strategy, expected outcomes, and the roles of stakeholders in ensuring a coordinated and evidence-driven intervention.
The Principal Investigator for the Lagos State LSM Project, Professor Idowu explained the scientific basis for the deployment of spray teams and other operational components of the intervention. He stressed the importance of adhering to established technical standards throughout implementation.
