A BRAND NEW THINKING AS WE CELEBRATES OUR DEMOCRACY.
The ultimate virtue in democracy is the power that it bestows in the people. The very essence of that power lies in the ability of the people to live a complete lifestyle that enables every man or woman to triumph in his or her legitimate pursuit. The concept of democracy is absolutely incongruent with a notion of regimentation either in the political or economic sphere.
The democracy that we celebrate today is a fruit of the labour of patriots, some of who paid the supreme price. As inheritors of this beautiful concept of democracy, it behooves us to ensure that democracy is nurtured not just as a mechanism for a periodic transformation but also as a social contract of liberation.
Even as we celebrate democracy, let us spare some time to reflect and mourn all those murdered in the recent needless killings across Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone and of course all over the country. May their souls rest in peace.
Democracy is by itself a self-correcting concept, but only if there is guarantee of credibility in the electoral process.
As we goes into yet another cycle of elections in the coming months, it is pertinent that the integrity of the electoral process be uphold with guarantees of free and fair election. We should coordinate ourselves in a civic manner so that together we can move forward.
Finally, we shall usher in a brand new thinking in our next legislative agenda of bettering the lives of our electorates.
